Your Clubs Diary, 2013 Competitions/Opens

When does your club announce its 2013 diary of events such as board competitions, opens and the like?

My club is still only up to March and it is muted that opens and club board competitions are not announced until after Christmas and well into the New Year!

As such whilst I am able to book up for Montrose, Wallasey and other open venues (inclusing GM meets) these could clash now with my club competitions that I wouldn't want to miss out on! As such I now have to be careful how far I book events in advance and have ground to a halt

How proactive is your club in getting early bookings for opens and by announcing club competition dates so you can arrange and plan your next seasons golf in advance.

Club events usually follow the same format year after year with no major changes to the running order. We don't get the fixture card until subs time in March, but it'll be the same as this past season.

Ours are more or less the same each year barring any big even like the Curtis cup which the course was closed for 3 weekends this year.
We get a diary with the subs in Dec.

Most of our Medals are the first weekend of the month, then a s/f or other KO comp. It appears that if 'competition A' was in week 17 in 2011 it was around the same time in 2012.

That's possibly the same at KGC but I've only been there a year so I haven't witnessed the possible regularity.

If that is the case then why can't they update the website diary now so I/we can work around dates?

Simon, I'm only in my third year, does your website have an honours board/results page, if so it may give a clue to when the comps were played previously

I'll look at the history but the club should list immediately then if its that consistent.

Ours are pretty much the same time every year and are confirmed in the club diary. Open events are already 'open' for booking on the club website

You must have been thinking of me, Rob. And I wasn't even there!

We tend to just keep the same weekends for comps, so the dates only change slightly from year to year. It runs from March to March each year, as Captaincy starts end March, and is generally published then also (although it has been earlier a few times).

Like others have said, my club has basically the same diary year on year, so people always know when certain events are on.

However there are always anomolies crop up, this year for instance, we host a local team event that comes round once every 12 years, so things have to move.

Also I imagine, club matches won't be organsied tillinto the new year, so your club can hardly print up a diary now. We get ours when we pay our fees in March. And at no time have they ever been muted

I'm not on about a physical diary, more a case of the website diary so I can see that when booking in opens around the country they don't clash with board comps that I don't want to miss at my club.

If they don't change that much which seems to be the general rule, then list them on-line now!

I guess I'm in the minority and would happily play away if it clashed with a club competition - even club championship qualifiers!

If there is an open at a good track that I want to play I will go and play it regardless.

Club diary comes out in March with the club comps and fixtures. They tend to follow the same pattern every year although the fixtures do change a little. Our opens tend to get put on the website a few months in advance

Ours comes out just after crimbo iirc. Next years big comps are up on the calendar now so ive got them in my golf schedule for next year

There's precious few opens listed until the new year anyway, around the same time as club fixtures come out, and hardly any anywhere that sell out more than a week ahead of schedule, so no need to get your knickers in such a twist about it.

Ours diaries are available in march fairly static year on year but I did get caught out with club champs moving from June to August this year.
I have a 2013 year planned and have started filling in possible opens, gtour, mid am and forum meets, a frightening amount of quality course available already! Some serious negotiations are needed!

Anyone recall if there's a mega meet planned this year Hillside was top day.

how about listing your own clubs opens and invitation days so other forum members could come and play and have an impromptu meet.
