Is there any budding weather men out there know or are willing to predict when this cold snap is going to lift so we can all get back to playing?
it is doing my head in everytime i look out the window.
from the 16th of DEC till now, its the longest its lasted that i can remenber

More bloomin snow forecast for the end of the week and cold again next week from what I saw.

It has been a bit of a prolonged winter this. I am getting a little cheesed off myself at the cold snap!

Glabal warming??? Bring it on please and fast!!!!

Ah well, you see All those Up North in Scotland have to look at the geography of the region

The Snowfields around Braemar are packed with snow and this has the effect of rapidly cooling any warm air that may float over. It is this cooling effect that is prolonging the winter up there.

It has been getting down to minus 18 some nights, and that sort of temperature just makes the existing snow and Ice last longer, and will take a long time to melt

You can see the same effect if you build a snowman, the lump of snow takes much longer to melt than the normal laid snow.

As temperatures start to rise generally as we move into spring, there will be a tipping point where the packed snow does start to melt.

Then you just have to wait for all the water to run off, so by May you should be Ok all the way through to June when Winter starts again

:D

Went to my club this morning on the way to a hospital appointment and we're open and on proper greens apart from 15 and 16 which are being accessed by a ferry shuttle back (completely submerged apparently) to the 17th tee and so are closed.

So definately no Homer J's shooting 40 points in the open day then? ;)

I think the weather gods are against us, every time it has snowed heavily, its been at its worst around the weekends...godammit.

With comments like that, I hope you're not planning any holidays in Scotland - you could get lynched.

The course shouldn't be open let alone on proper greens. At a push the front nine would be playable as it is on higher ground but I bet holes like 5 and 9 are waterlogged. Shortsighted again if you ask me especially as they had to postpone the 4ball better ball from last weekend to this. You'd think they'd want to give the course every chance to recover.

Well, as long as they've got the canoes out I'm playing today! Could be more than a mite damp though. But temps should get near double figures today - sorry you lot in Bonny Freezing Scotland but there's got to be some benefit to living down here!

If you are playing in Aylesbury it is going to be very soggy. On Saturday my course, The Millbrook, which is just up the road from you and which normally drains amazingly well was very soggy underfoot. Since then it has just been rain and snow with even more rain forecast for the rest of the week.

Captain v Pro Challenge on Saturday promises to be a very damp affair.
