Think we may have found our new home course

Have you tried Best Western Plus Magnolia Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, it's only 5 minutes from Long Crendon. Great course and friendly staff. A good test at just shy of 7,000 yards and used by the Jamega Pro Tour. I know they have a very active Senior Section too. Good deals on full membership and a special offer on Corporate Membership currently with 10% off. Worth checking out.

As many of you know Aylesbury Park GC is due to have HS2 run straight through the middle of it in the next couple of years and we have been looking at all the local clubs to find a new "home"

Well we think we have found it, slightly off our original radar, but played it today and loved it.

Where?

Whipsnade Park, next door to the zoo

The clubhouse and first tee box are in Hertfordshire, but the rest of the course is in Bedfordshire.
Price is right, travelling time is no worse than to Aylesbury.
Really nicely laid out course, great facilities, active seniors (im 55 at Xmas), good grub

nothing negative at all

Well happy

played one of our society days there last season. Very nice course

Interesting 1st post

we havnt joined yet Bill, but are 99% certain to do so end of March, unless they start to fill up,in which case we shall go early, so keeping an eye on it

want to play it in the depths of winter to see how it is then
But they dont use temp greens, have never had a trolley ban and only close for snow as it is on chalk so drains well.

Interesting development at our current club
In October they had to allow HS2 to drill deep test bore holes on the course. If they hadn't, there was a chance the club would been closed for good. Allowing them on keeps the club open..for now.
Our Xmas newsletter has arrived and they're changing the membership year in April.
It has been 1/4 - 31/3 ever since it opened.
From April it's going to change to January to December. 2017 membership year will be April to December....
That tells me that they can't guarantee anything after 2017.
Looks like our move is happening at just the right time....
And...we can join WP in January and get 3 months free - so not paying anything else until April 2018....

Our new club Whipsnade Park will be referred to as "The Zoo"

Its quite nice spotting Emus, wallabies, bison etc looking at you through the fence, as well as the ROAR of the lions on your backswing :)
