Think we may have found our new home course

Nice enough course. Plenty of odd animal noises...... last time I played the food was pretty bad .

55
.

I can't join the Seniors for another 22 months😖😁

I quite liked the course. It rained on and off most of the way round, especially whilst playing 15-17 and I still enjoyed it. That, to me, says something.
There are a few 380-400 yard dog leg par 4s but they're spaced out and not all the same so I can live with that. Only 4 par 3s and they're all decent lengths, 3 par 5s in the first 6 holes and 6 altogether I think...Par 73, SSS 73 off the whites, 6800 yards
The greens have got the making of being pretty good.
It has a range, grass as well as covered, a good size putting green, decent changing rooms and Pro shop and the bar/food perfectly acceptable.
23 minutes door to door, price is right, 400 members, better course than AP - its starting to look a bit like a no-brainer....

It's beginning to sound like it as well! What've you got to lose

All jokes aside, that's does sound like a no brainer, good luck to you both, I'm also a believer in it will be what you make it and want it to be, sounds like it's got all the right ingredients, I'll await my invite 👍🏌⛳️

Good to hear. Think I may have a new home soon as well. Really enjoyed my round with a couple of fellow forumers at Sleaford last week. Really friendly place so an imminent move could be on the cards

Nice enough but a bit samey in places. Not for me, but then it is what it is. It's a step up from where you were, so fair enough, why not. Last time I played it, the greens were ok. I just got the impression that if I was blindfolded, and dumped somewhere on the course, when the blind fold was removed, I wouldn't have a clue what hole I was on. Harsh? May be, but it's what I thought.

Better than your present course, no doubt about it,

As many of you know Aylesbury Park GC is due to have HS2 run straight through the middle of it in the next couple of years and we have been looking at all the local clubs to find a new "home"

Well we think we have found it, slightly off our original radar, but played it today and loved it.

Where?

Whipsnade Park, next door to the zoo

The clubhouse and first tee box are in Hertfordshire, but the rest of the course is in Bedfordshire.
Price is right, travelling time is no worse than to Aylesbury.
Really nicely laid out course, great facilities, active seniors (im 55 at Xmas), good grub

nothing negative at all

Well happy

Sorry to hear that your existing club is under threat from HS2 (I typed H2S the first time, which is the gas that smells of rotten eggs; about right in this case). It affects quite a number of golf courses including Uxbridge and Ruislip in our area, and the classic Whittington Heath club in the Midlands. Due to loss of land area, both Uxbridge and Ruislip will probably have to be re-configured as 9 hole courses, as well as being closed for some time, which may affect their future viability. As a glider pilot, I know that there is a disused railway line running from London to the Midlands, which I believe was the former Great Central Line. So why they couldn't just reinstate that is beyond me!

And I assume it'll still be business as usual in the ritual stuffing of your brother
