The Whisky Thread

Thanks guys. Sounds like I've got some gems there. They would though be wasted on me though as I wouldn't know what is is that I'm meant to appreciate. Probably wasted on my brother as well as he wolfed his way through a bottle of Glenfiddich (I assume of similar quality as it came from the same friend as the others) over the course of a few weekend stays.

Food for thought from @Doon there - might save them for my wake. I won't care what happens to them there and someone at least might appreciate my passing :D

For Christmas I was gifted a bottle of Aberlour 14yo. Very nice drop and more depth of flavour than the 12yo which is one of my favourites.

Thoughts on that me dears
Obviously an American viewpoint, given they distinguish Kentucky and Tennessee, while ignoring the fact that Scotch divides into Speyside, Highland, Islay, Lowland, Campbeltown.
(Are there more Scotch regions? My daily tipple is Talisker from Skye which doesn't seem to be in any of those five).

Edit: I see they've spelled it "whiskey" (with an E), so perhaps they shouldn't include Scotch at all. Isn't Canadian whisky also spelled without an E?

I thought that the common denominator was the countries name.

I.e. Scotland, Japan all spelt with no E.
America, Ireland all spelt with an E.

I'm sure this isn't the case for everything but it's what I've seen

I saw it on a marella cruise near a bar and thought it an odd statement

Last year was on a holiday in the Galapagos and discovered that there is such a thing as Ecuadorian whisky. Tried it: not bad at all.
(Mind you, being on the holiday of a lifetime might have put me in a good mood and lowered my expectations).

I’m off to the Wales Whisky Festival in Llandudno at the end of October, with 3 mates

Went last year, Twas very good, free samples everywhere, going by train, no way I’m driving back 🥃🥃🥃
I went to a whisky tasting event a few years ago. It was an enjoyable evening, but the following day was not enjoyable in the least. Worst hangover EVER.
