I’d been to watch Huddersfield that day, and on the bus on the way home we could see the smoke rising from over the hills. Put the TV on when I got home and was horrified. Absolute tragedy.

I recall driving back from town with the radio on for the results and hearing this news. Tragic. One of those moments that stayed with me - such a sad loss of life.

I still remember being able to see the smoke from my house. I wasn’t really old enough at the time to comprehend what was going on.
My grandad and uncles were at the game in the stand that caught fire. Thankfully they got out, although one suffered burns. They had friends at the game who weren’t so lucky.

It was the Day me and Missis T were married. No one said a word at the wedding as no one really knew. It was the days before social media etc. anyway the following morning we get the breakfast in bed delivered and I turned the telly on. Me and Missis T were in total shock.
Our local radio station is now run by Tony Delahunt. He was covering the football game that day for radio. There’s footage of him commentating on it. It is heartbreaking. He has since gone on record saying he commentated on stock car racing over the PA so spectators could hear him, he was talking and shouting over the radio telling spectators to get out. They could not hear him

We let them get under our skins too much, not used to being the favourites.

Could have been worse, a goal lead after that first half was better than I expected… funny but I thought the Ref was good, he got the majority of the decisions right and tried to keep the game flowing.

Yes good decision for the penalty.
keeper’s usually get away with them.
They ran out of gas second half and WH had chances that just needed a bit more composure and the tie would be over.

That's not ideal for you! West Ham pretty much safe (I know math's dictates otherwise but they are safe IMO) they'll be going all in for a European trophy for sure!
