As I've said before, De Gea saves Utd far more points than he costs us with some astonishing saves.
Utd's loss was more down to not having a lethal striker, or any striker, than it was to De Gea.

Middlesbrough have Zach Steffen on loan from Man City. There’s been at least 3 times this season he‘s passed the ball directly to to an opposition player who has scored. Boro have been knocking goals in for fun, Utd haven’t. Utd’s biggest issue is a striker. Look at your best goal scorer and then imagine what points difference Harry Kane would have made. And imagine one decent central defender… champions, or at least challenging for it.

Yes .
same for Liverpool the chances we have missed this season have cost us so far.
Brighton as well if they had Kane they would be top the football they have played Is great to watch.

Even Chelsea would be a lot higher with a top striker ???

But equally your keeper can’t be costing you tight games with really basic errors. There are very obviously two sides to the argument but having de Gea make mistakes like that must do untold damage to confidence throughout the team.

He has plenty of credit in the bank, but it is rapidly disappearing.

For years it's been said DDG is the shinning light at United (when the team was bad) is it that he actually was never that good but like all keepers look much better when constantly busy but only top top keepers can do nothing for 89 mins then pull off a save ..

Maybe years of being in a poorer United side hide his flaws

I get really aggravated when players won't give the ball to the other team when it's a throw in, corner or free kick, then they just throw it somewhere where the team have to retrieve it - not far enough away though for the ref to book the culprit.

My pet peeve is appealing for corners, throw ins etc when it clearly went off them last

Isn’t that down to the manager then to tell them to stop playing out from the back Until your first choice players are back.
you need a new Fellani to play long to and pick the second balls up.

to many teams playing out from the back who just don’t have the players to do it.
so many goals in the PL now caused by trying this plan, great when it works but when it doesn't it’s penal.
It is down to the manager. But, playing long might actually be even worse. We have no one up top who can compete for a ball, nor very good at winning second balls. We have a few players who pretend to challenge by making a half hearted jump.

If there is an easy short ball for keeper, he might as well make it. Manager can't do anything if keeper makes an absolute mess of it. If the opposition are pressing all short balls, that is time for keeper to try and play longer. But, DeGea's decision making in that situation is probably not the sharpest.

So Man United, fighting for a Champion’s League place, cannot beat a very well organised and managed Brighton side.

And here we are, a few days later, watching Everton move into a 3-0 lead against the same opposition, away from home, before half time.

This game makes no sense at times.
