I saw the post re Liverpool playing the national anthem before all prem games as per the premier leagues request As soon as it came out on the BBC. I was going to post a link because I knew that it would rear its head on here and other forums. Liverpool as a club had released a statement saying “ they knew some fans would not like it”. I get that, I totally get that But respect goes both ways. I find it astonishing that Liverpool, City, Utd and other clubs have history of being vile to one another through chants and songs and tremendous efforts are made to try and stamp it out. Yet it is still deemed as acceptable by some to behave in that manner. I just don’t get it and unfortunately that is why some fans have issues with some of the Liverpool fans. But not all. Once more it is the minority

You clearly don’t get it if you are trying to compare rival fans using fans dying as something that’s used in a chant to fans booing the anthem because of historical issues with the establishment

Onto the game - Brentford are heck of a team but at times found it hard to stay on their feet. Looking for free kicks and Taylor more than happy to oblige - the VVD header given as a foul 😂😂

Anyway 3 points and now just a point behind United

Some good thundering matches today. Not all were high class but they were almost cup final-esque in the passion they were played. No quarter given. Typical end of season stuff with teams at both ends of the table having so much to play for.

As for the other stuff going on in the background…*yawn*

I find it amusing that people on the football thread are getting so worked up about Liverpool football club and more than happy to stick the boot it..... Yet there are countless people on the coronation thread saying whatever the hell they want without challenge.

Anyway, best Liverpool can do is apply pressure and hope for slip ups ... Didn't play particularly well today, thought Brentford gave a really good challenge all over the pitch. Decent side.

I've got the post originator on ignore so can't be assed to keep finding the thread. It was only ever going one way - which is why he posted!

First time at the new Spurs stadium today with the boy.

Not really much to report from the game. It was pretty dull. Spuds didn’t look like they were allowed to go into the Palace defensive half.

There was a lot of empty seats which probably didn’t help the atmosphere. Which was quite. I thought the Norwich crowd was docile, but the Spurs fans may have surpassed them. Although they do like a whinge.

Obviously there are degrees of offensive behaviour BUT it is offensive to many (me included) and I find it hypocritical that it's condoned...
Maybe if your family had been treated the way some Liverpool families have been you might have a different view.
Your entitled to your opinion of course.
But so are the fans.

The PL forced Liverpool to play GSTK even though they knew this would happen after warnings from the club.
Strong feelings in the City but not all agree to booing the national Anthem.
Sad but predictable .

No one is being forced to sing along at all. There's abstention and then there's disrespect.
Your right.

Same for City fans booing during a Hillsborough silence, and also Bernardo Silva not applauding during a guard of honour for someone having the temerity to stop the sports-washed, oil backed cheats in their championship win, either.

Ring any bells?
