So var cock it up big time for Brighton, they drew the line from the wrong defender and called it offside, when it should have been y different defender who would have played the player on.
Now considering where Brighton are in the league they might miss out on a champions League position at the end of the season ,all because some useless idiot got it wrong and ultimately cost Brighton millions.

I’m not sure I agree.

Surely a person’s actions when falling to the ground are instinctive and as such no great thought is given to where you place your hand, or how you position it. As such, I find it hard to see how it can be argued that a player has made their body unnaturally larger.

I only watched this in passing yesterday lunchtime but I’m sure I heard one of the commentators saying it’s possible to fall without putting a hand out to break that fall, and as such a penalty should have been given. I’d like to see him fall over like Derek Trotter in a bar!

It’s a bit of a stretch in my view. Player falls to ground, instinctively puts hand down to break fall, ball strikes that hand. Not a penalty in my book.
Your entitled to your opinion!
For me it’s a great save most keepers would be happy with.
when you fall over you put your hand down to break your fall naturally.
Thats not natural to have the palm facing the ball not the ground.

👍 As I mentioned in 85,873. It’s getting beyond a joke.

But there in lies the problem if one digs into the case. City were responding and being cooperative with UEFA. However UEFA decided it was a good idea to ” leak” confidential information to the press. Citys barristers advised City to stop sending info to UEFA as it was harming its case. Why Would it give info to CAS but not to UEFA?

A weekend for VAR to forget, Arsenal could lose a title to it too.

Brentford and West ham both fortunate with VAR decisions.

It’s not a circle that can be squared. Some people might aim to fall on their elbow. For some people, the momentum of a fall won’t allow them to react quickly enough to where their hand/arm goes. Others put their hands down and break their wrists.

And in the dim and distant past, 1970, at my first rugby coaching session I was taught how to fall without putting my arms out at all. You can never prove handball either way unless a player stretches for the ball.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if a penalty had been given, equally I’m not surprised it wasn’t. There’s doubt…

A dedicated VAR official "forgot to draw the lines" is human error on all accounts. Not sure why it didnt look at the original free kick too where Toney fouls Saliba but gets a free kick.

That said Brentford deserved at least a point yesterday, they were excellent and probably had the better chances over the game. Toney a real handful all game

Lose in midweek and City likely to go back to the top :(

I do think there is an argument that his hand was there to break his fall.

However, the only reason he was going to ground was to make himself big and block shot. He wasn't tackling, or stumbling or slipping over. So, although O agree that there is still argument it isn't handball as he was falling to ground, I wonder if the reason he was going to ground should be factored in?

Surely he has said something. It doesn't make sense otherwise. One of the views shows him chuntering away as he is coming towards the ref. Presumably something abusive was said en route. One for the refs report.
That is what I thought. But, Neves said that the ref simply chose to book him as he was the 3rd player running over to him. Apparently nothing aggressive or nasty was said at all. If only we could read the match report by the ref, then we'd know for sure. Certainly didn't look anything nasty, especially compared to many other situations, were players can continually shout and scream at refs, and no booking at all.

Do ManU players practice holding their knees and screaming in just in case they get tackled?

This game doesn’t finish 11 v 11
