Is there anything more Spursy than beating Man City then getting smashed by Leicester the next week

Most blatant handball you’ll ever see in the West Ham v Chelsea game 🤯
Here's the applicable bit of the rule, that suggests why it was not given - arm was committed to being in that position
  • touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
As a Hammers follower, I'm pleased with the result, but wouldn't have been surprised if 'Handball' had been given
It seems to me that the intro of VR has meant that many more situations are having the absolute wording of the rule(s) applied, the consequence of which can be controversial!

Just seen this and think it’s a pen.
look at the palm of his hand ,it’s facing the ball not facing the ground like you would to break your fall..
VAR needs binning.

they can’t even get the lines on the last man meaning the striker was offside when he clearly wasn’t.

the second yellow for the Wolves player is the most bizzare I have seen for a very long time.

some fantastic goals today.
but VAR is in the headlines again

Terrible day for VAR. Offside is a factual decision. However, as shown in Brighton game, if VAR puts the line on the wrong defender, it is useless.

Outside of VAR, looked like a random decision to book the Wolves player already on a yellow.

Booked for "aggressively running at the referee..."

They make it up as they go along.

Surely he has said something. It doesn't make sense otherwise. One of the views shows him chuntering away as he is coming towards the ref. Presumably something abusive was said en route. One for the refs report.

You know if we was talking every week about Patrick Reed and balls up a tree or ball in sand, folk would be going mad and saying something needs to be done. That’s what we do every week re VAR. We talk about it every single week. Some folk are still defending VAR. Like I have said before. The officials that were incompetent before VAR are now running VAR. Bottom line, the lunatics are running the asylum. how can you possibly draw a line from the wrong player when checking for Offside.
Over the course of a season it will help to relegate or give a team a position in the champs league.

I’m not sure I agree.

Surely a person’s actions when falling to the ground are instinctive and as such no great thought is given to where you place your hand, or how you position it. As such, I find it hard to see how it can be argued that a player has made their body unnaturally larger.

I only watched this in passing yesterday lunchtime but I’m sure I heard one of the commentators saying it’s possible to fall without putting a hand out to break that fall, and as such a penalty should have been given. I’d like to see him fall over like Derek Trotter in a bar!

It’s a bit of a stretch in my view. Player falls to ground, instinctively puts hand down to break fall, ball strikes that hand. Not a penalty in my book.

Nathan Jones sacked by Southampton after 3 months in charge. Not surprised, he seemed out of his depth, his ramblings were becoming more bizarre by the week.

It was a peculiar appointment for the situation they were in. He is someone that needs to build a team around a particular style of play. Odd choice when you are in a relegation battle. If he had a full pre season then possibly a different kettle of fish.
