Didn't see the first half of the day, but watching the highlights, given what the ball was doing this morning, the opening stand was excellent.

The opinion and reasons why were/are still valid
They didn’t win the best because of winning the toss ,
India loosing 5 wickets for 30 runs and tuning a 450 plus lead into 371 was a massive reason - it was a case of two tails - one wagged the other didn’t
The result was excellent with some stunning batting yesterday

Archer has one match back from injury with Sussex and straight back into the England squad. Personally would want to see more of a run out in the county game first

I'm glad he is back, lot more of a threat than the medium pace tripe that we have got at the moment - every bowler is virtually identical. Archer's extra speed will (hopefully) make batters hurry and get some wickets. Just hope he can stay fit for a prolonged period.
I agree in many respects and share your sentiment regarding the hope that he stays fit. I’m just not sure one red ball game is enough to suggest he’s ready, and won’t break down again.

He has played almost a full IPL season, the injury that meant he missed the last couple of games wasn't anything to do with his elbow or back, so it isn't like he hasn't played any cricket at all. Most of the main England players haven't played much, if any county cricket this year either.

As I mentioned before, he has had almost a full IPL season this spring. Ok, the matches are shorter but not much time between games.

Based on the ECB's current schedule, three more County Championship games would take you into 2026
i thought it was pretty brainless trying to keep playing that shot to a ball was outside off thump to a field where it was only ever a single.
judging by Englands pace attack in the last test, thy probably think they need something. i'm guessing Woods injured. i dont see why they wouldnt give him a shot for at least one game.

Surrey are racking up a huge score at the Oval against Durham but what is great from the live feed is that they have around 3,000 local schoolkids there on free tickets. Sounds like a great atmosphere, the weather is great and an excellent way to promote the game.

Hopefully they will see a competitive match and not the bore draws that were prevalent in the last round of matches - 7/9 games were high scoring draws. At the moment, it is not a fair contest between bat and ball due to the ECB insisting they use the kookaburra ball.
