Somerset are deeply embedded and connected with their local area (which very much extends through Devon too) and draw a bigger crowd than most test match grounds. Team still basically built around youth players from local clubs and schools - with so many having gone on to excel for England (think Botham to Buttler…). Anyone who thinks artificial franchises can ever have the same connection and passionate level of support, or create and nurture talent in the same way, should be forced to attend (often sold out) Blast nights at Taunton until they see sense.

It’s a great night there at a T20 game , been that way since the days of Bangers etc
They also always make smart overseas signings and also recruit very well
It’s why imo the locals don’t support any Hundred team

Yes they virulently hate it (or we hate it - I’m an expat West Country lad). The official “local” hundred team they’re supposed to support is across the sea in a different country. Shows how effin stupid the whole concept is

It’s test match time! England hosting India in a 5 test series which is amazing.
Proper cricket. This short format stuff can be fun to watch but it has no real substance.
India away from home with some lesser knowns in their team. Still will have some absolute gun players in their team though. Hoping Jaiswal has a stellar series. Very easy on the eye when batting.
England have the batting but their bowling looks very light. Stokes not injuring himself bowling wise over the series is something England will be desperate for. Bashir is not there as a spinner yet. Let’s see…

Then they are both clueless - it was always a bat first wicket and conditions even more so when your bowling line up is weak
