The Cricket Thread

Watched Lancashire ve Worcester .Good game especially in the penultimate over when the Lancashire bowler bowled a wide, followed by a no ball for overstepping then another no ball. Lancashire won by 8 runs but it was closer than the score suggests.

There was a lady commentator who I did not appreciate. She was referring to 45 which never used to be a fielding position and said the obvious

What a brilliant knock from Root

Staggering to think at one stage they thought his ODI career was over

Staggering to think he is not first name on the teamsheet in all three formats - and also that they offered up Bethell and Jacks to be flogged to all parts when he is also a superior spinner to either of them (though this can I sort of understand given they need to learn and he has occasional back issues)

So Kohli lifts the only trophy missing from his cabinet.. first IPL after playing 18 years for the same franchise.. can’t question his commitment

And then pays ode to Test cricket saying this is still 5 levels below Test cricket.

Take a bow.. another star ready to sign off

Good riddance. Class cricketer but a most dislikable person.

i know its personal opinion... you cant fault his record. If he was English, he would be celebrating him like Flintoff, Ben Stokes....

ps: if he was to be born in England, our system would have ensured that we kick the talent out of him and he conforms.

That might have been the case many years ago but that really isn't the case any more. Nor has it been for quite some time. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had Flintoff, Stokes, Butler and pretty much most of the current team.

it is a generational shift...

Why the heck is Liam Dawson back playing for England , and they only have 2 seamers ?!
Think he has played himself into contention for the whole summer tbh. Definitely not a seamers pitch though, pace off all the way. And why Brook persisted with Potts I’ll never know. He should have put Bethell on for the last over. I thought he came back well after a disastrous first over.
