The Cricket Thread

Here's the scenario:
450 yard par 4, water in front of the green, stroke index 1. You push your tee shot, it clips a branch and drops down where it nestles in a horrible lie in deep rough. You get to your ball and quickly identify 2 options:
A. There is a path to the green, but you'll have to carry it 230 over water, keeping it low under a branch and stop it quickly on the green.
B. Easy wedge to middle of the fairway, then wedge to the green and hope to get it close and save par.

What option would you take?
What option would Scottie Scheffler take?
What option would an England batsman take?
What's the pin position?

The frustrating thing for me is that all Australia have had to do is turn up and watch England beat themselves.
This game feels in the balance now. If Australia can’t get away in this innings, we know England can chase down totals… but only if they can keep their players from falling apart.

Must be so disheartening as a bowler to be running in and seeing cymbals Bairstow behind the stumps. He must have photos of the selectors in compromising positions to keep getting in to the team as a keeper.

I think England have a history of picking a batter who keeps wicket ahead of a specialist keeper. The irritating thing is that Foakes probably wouldn’t have scored a lot less than Bairstow has in this series to date.

Is Jack Russel the last time we consistently picked a specialist keeper rather and a batsman/keeper?

Get in there !!!

Into another finals day - what a player Gregory is and there isn’t many bowling as well as Overton right now

Prob our worst performance of the comp but just did enough

Initially his keeping was not great though. Chris Reed and Foster at Essex, I seem to recall, were better with the gloves at the time.
Exactly. The point was made that he was in the team because his batting was better than the other keepers, not because of his keeping.
