Surrey need 25 to win their county championship game. Somerset need another 284 with 8 wickets left. Lose and Surrey are champions again. C'mon The 'Rey

The fat lady is warming up her voice to celebrate another championship for the team missing Pope, Jacks, Smith and Atkinson from the final month.

Well soon enough England will realise that

Potts and Jacks aren’t good enough at international level

Will prob add Bethall soon enough

And Smith isn’t good enough behind the stumps

Carse - too late for him

well and truely slapped

We thought that last week until that dodgy pitch came to the fore. Not taking anything for granted until that last wicket falls. A nice early Lancashire breakthrough would be nice though

I would also add Livingstone to that list as well. Too many low scores and flatters to deceive with the ball - very much like Sam Curran. Needs to get more consistent at international level

All that ECB money comes in handy

Doesn't it just. For those who don't get the reference, Surrey are the only county guaranteed international cricket year in year out, and pay the ECB a fixed fee to do so that was pegged ten years ago. Everyone else has to enter a competitive biding process, ending up paying considerably more. Yes, Slurry also have a very good commercial department, but they start from a position of strength.

I don't think most fans would mind so much if they made more use of their admittedly decent academy rather than parachuting in one game superstars.

Their fans will complain about international calls ups. To give a comparison, I think most people would agree that the best County side this Century was the Yorkshire side 2013-16. In 2015, that side lost Adam Lyth, Joe Root, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, Tim Bresnan and Liam Plunkett to international call ups, and won the Championship by 75 points playing reserves and kids. One overseas player, and only two brought in from outside, one of whom, the legendary Hoddfather, had been released by Sussex...

ECB have always had tunnel vision when it comes to test grounds and the hundred is a perfect example of it - they are desperate for that to be the IPL and they are willing to sacrifice the county game for it - think Surrey had 38 players used and when one pops off to England or hundred etc they just get the wallet out

They need to bin the hundred and get behind the blast which benefits all counties
