I'm defo representing Wales at the next one! Good stuff guys, cant wait to see all the pics and here some stories. Going to a mates for dinner and booze so will be checking in on my phone during pee breaks, I'm addicted to this bloody forum!
I know what you mean Hywel, I am not much of a poster but have checked the forum a dozen times today looking for updates of the scores! Its like the Ryder cup all over again.
Well done to the jocks, enjoy your victory while it lasts..
Look forward to the next one and hope to be a part of it.
Just a quick match report from the Victorious Captain!!
I/we have had a fantastic couple of days and it was great to put faces to the names.Yesterdays weather started off nice but rain came in on the back 9 but did nothing to dampen spirits as we headed off in town for ales at nightime. Some great banter and it was good to get to know folk a little bit more.I really enjoyed my 2 matches as the company was top notch,my partners were SS2 and madandra and the craic was great and the golf not too shabby either....Tincup and TonyN were stiff opposition this afternoon two fine golfers,Tincup keep playing like that and you won't stay at 10 handicap for long, enjoyed your compact and tidy action and that putter has been a good buy!TonyN......18 handicap??No way, this guy has been playing only 18 months and has a swing alot of guys would kill for after ten years play oh and he also chips and putts way to good for a 18 handicapper!Only some great play from myself and my fine partner SS2 saw us clinch the vital points,if either of us had been a bit off our game the points would have gone south I feel.
Murph and Viscount were fine company too and a mixture of a fast start by myself and madandra (well named by the way) and a slow start from our opponents saw us 6 up after 7 but the English pair got stuck in and if Murph had not 3 putted 12 for us to stay 4 up the story may have been very different.
Murphthemog & viscount17 lost to Dodger & madandra 5&3.
Match result after day 1:- ENGLAND:4 SCOTLAND:6

Saturdays Play:-
Unfortunately England were a man down after Robo had to shoot off home when his wee laddie was taken into hospital. All the guys hope all is well with you Tim and your son recovers soon!
Despite frantic efforts to find a replacement Doh was left to do battle by himself but an adjusted format was played in this match to try and make it a bit fairer.
Many thanks for all the heard work that you and your wee team put into organising this weekend. Everything was well prepared and the printed sheets with the draw on them was a nice touch. It helped us to remember names a bit better. Your clubhouse staff did well to feed us all on time on Friday evening. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
It's also the first time I've played and had an announcer on the first tee introducing the players as they take the tee. Thanks to your dad for doing that for us on both Friday and Saturday.
And finally to all who took part. Thanks for making it a memorable weekend. I'm off to look at photos now, so may post some later.
Dodger
Let me express my thanks again for what has been a fantastic 2 days. The course was in fantastic condition and played very tough (especially today).
I would also like to thank all the other players, it was a pleasure meeting you all and it was nice to put names to faces, but did get confusing at times with a mixture of real names and user names been used.
Shame about the final result, but the better team over the 2 days probably won.
I was very happy with the way I played especially on the friday triumphing 10 and 8, sorry DCB and Fraser (who was a brilliant sport on the night out, most of the stick coming from madandra) if you read this.
I just cant wait to get out on the course and try the new wedges out thanks for donating them as prizes Tonyn.
Am looking to try and attend as many meets are organised in the future to hopefully meet more of you
congratulations again Scotland
Craig
Well done Team Scotland. What a weekend Dodger what
can i say mate! 1st class.Gutted i had to come home
first thing this morning, was going to try and redeem
myself after my poor show against SS2&Toad who are both
solid players with Toad not putting a foot wrong and SS2
who looks like he can hole putts for fun from all over.
My playing partner Mick (Toads mate) kept us in the game
with some great golf. But we lost to the better team on the day.Well done lads.Looking forward to the next time.
Well lads I would also like to thank Dodger for his role as social convener as it was a superb meet and it was a pleasure meeting the other fellas from the forum who managed to travel north.
Dodgers dad was a fantastic starter as this added to the drama of the two days. Steve (Viscount) and Chris (murphthemog) were unlucky in being drawn with Dodger whos Galvin Green coat-tails I was holding onto and not letting go.
After the golf we had dinner ... move on
And last night we hit Las Berwick and the local economy was doubled for a Friday night when the GM forum guys walked into town. The locals had obviously heard we were in town and locked up their daughters because there wasn't one to be seen. Then a local barman told us that their family allowance and social security payments were not due in until Monday.
So it was off to the curry house where I slipped into a Korma and laughed so much at Fraser (when he was born he weighed 10 and 8) that mango chutney came down my nose.
Todays round was a bit of an anti climax because I never hit an iron all day. I was with Toad and played with gjbike (graham) and Viscount again and it was nip and tuck all the way round. The highlight was Viscount hitting his shot on 18th rough and knocked the ball backwards. Toad won nearest the hole and said we would share the prize which was a rescue wood (SS2 ... it was CIDER) so I am looking forward to receiving the shaft in the post any day now.
Once again, cheers lads it really was a weekend to remember and I will be sending my pics to Homer.
Dodger, many many thanks for all your efforts, please pass on my thanks to everyone else who chipped in. Your old man was fantastic and did a great job on the first. Your club were also very welcoming. Also, your words are too kind, I am sorry I couldnt of given you a better game today, I was hopeless once that wind set in. By the way everyone, Dodger forgot to mention he shot gross level par today, a truly awsome display considering the wind. A joy to watch.
Gentleman, all of your were fantastic and a credit to this forum. I had such a good two days (friday was best aye J_F) J_F and Stuart gave Vig and myself a good game yesterday but we also played well enough to stay infront from the first and took it to the 18th. Stuart, John, a pleasure, thanks guys, I hope we play again.
Madandra thanks for the funniest curry I have ever eaten. Hope you cleared all the mango chutney
For my first time on a links course, I can really see what all the fuss is about. Different ball game completely, but a very good test of even simple shots.
Unfortunatly, my memory card just gave up the ghost before I could snap anything. I hope you guys dont mind me pinching some of your snaps. (if you do just tell me I wont save them)
Well played Scotland, I hope we get the chance to play again soon.
Regardless of the result, (it obviuosly doesn't matter now ), it sounds like you all had a great time, and that it was well organised, which helps massively. I think a bench mark has been set.
