The Battle of the Auld Enemy-Goswick G.C.-20th/21st Feb 09.

Score after the 1st days action is a slender lead of 6-4 to the Scots.England surged in to a 4-0 lead winning the 1st 2 matches but the Scots came roaring back winning the next 3 matches to secure the overnight lead.

I havn't time to go into detail tho as I am dashing out for drink!

Weather was fantastic to start but rain came in for the back nine but nothing to severe, was cool tho! Hoping for s better weather day tomorrow with another good performance from my men!

It looks like Birdieman could be right with the weather line, as England stormed into the lead when the sun was out, but crumbled as the weather turned.

Glad your all having a grand time, but come on team England not to many beers tonight you all need an early night there is abattle to be won!

So, if it's sunny tomorrow, expect a turn around. If it rains, it's all over!!!

t.b.h. I know of the course, and I'm impressed the English boys picked up any points.

If it was on a Midlands parkland course, the result would be 4-6!

Whatever, I wish I was up there as well.....

Mornin all. Just woke up, lying in bed in the B&B with a sore head :(

Looking out of window it looks dry, cloudy and calm. Confident of getting some more points today as I think my pairing should work out well. Can't tell ya all who it is, madandra will be spying.

Last night was great, one of the funniest nights I have had for ages. Took me almost half an hour to eat a small curry because I was laughing so hard.

Just about to get up and do the morning thing. England boys are getting to the club handy to talk tactics and get some pace practice in. We are very confident and everyone is enjoying it, apart from the guys who were beat 10&8 :D

View from the front line.

Writing this from MacDonalds, with a bit of a stiff hang over. Now the plan was to have a swift couple last night, early to bed, ready to do battle today. But after a couple, I decided that I really couldn’t play any worse today, so thought a few more might help. Bad excuse but, at the time seemed rational.

Yesterdays game is best forgotten, and believe me I have tried, but somehow most of it is still there.

Dodger, Madandra, Viscount 17, and I teed off last (even without the crowd, being under starters orders was enough to put the nerves on). I have always hated internal ob, so to be faced straight away with this down the right wasn’t good. So first drive ob, (better than JF, whose first, and he was first out, didn’t make the ladies tee, although he assures me he got a 6 out of it), second drive a top into a bunker, then 3 shots in the sand set the tone.

I don’t think I have played such terrible golf for the first 5 holes, so no surprise we were 4 down after 5 ( with Viscount halving the first). We finally got one back on the ninth, to stand first on the tee on 10 for the first time. The honour, at last. Short lived, as we promptly lost the tenth, to go back to 5 down.

Eventually lost on 15, either 4 and three, or 5 and three, not sure which.

Considering the conditions, the course was in good nick, with firm fast greens, something I’m not used to at this time of year, and a good layout. I love links golf, but it could take a while to get used to. I think the weather (miserable, wet, cold) and the course suited the Scottish boys. They take a one match lead into today. Today it is breezy, but there are hints of blue, and no rain forecast. Come on England!

Yesterday Viscount and I were the sacrificial lambs thrown at Madandra and Dodger. A tough baptism to links golf for Viscount. Mad hits a good ball (and putts well too), and Dodger off 2 is a handful.

Today I have drawn Ivan (one of the guests, but it is his track, and he too plays off 2) as a partner. If he can carry me through my usual slow start we will have a good chance, although after he played with tin cup yesterday and racked up a 10 and 8 win, I hope he isn’t expecting the same from me.

Off to do battle.

Now, where did I put the nurofen?

I am soooo jealous! I have to go shopping with HID then fix the shower as the sealant has started to leak. And I still cant play, thinking of going to practise my putting but don't fancy the mocking or cold toes as I can only wear my flip flops.

Good luck to you all today guys, looking forward to seeing pics and the write ups tonight / tomorrow.

Testing conditions on day 2 saw Scotland take the spoils 7-3 giving an overall result of 13-7.

Good couple of days golf, nice to put faces to names.Hope everyone enjoyed the course and gets home safely.

it was on home soil medwayjon,Berwick has been reclaimed after a fine performance, the English have been humbled, brief report will follow when I get the strength back in my arms!

Just back home. Guessing that I'm the nearest apart from Dodger and IMO2. Poor Murph is still on his way back home to Watford! Fine effort, sir.

Here are my first couple of photos. Guessing there will be better ones.

Great day, night, day
