I don't think anyone needs to worry about dress sense in downtown Berwick fellas,I wouldn't have thought there will be much going on although I think we may try a couple in the newly opened 'Liquid Lounge' which is run by a local Schitzo whom also owns the adjoining boutique hotel....could be fun...

Just got done all I needed to. If I fell asleep now I would still only have 5 hours 21 minutes.

So goodnight to all, I hope I can sleep!

Great morning, overcast, bit cool but temp rising steadily and hardly any breeze....perfect for golf, let the battle commence!!
I'm off to set out the nearest the pin, straightest and longest drive markers so will catch you all later!

Is it on Sky Sports?

Remember Scotland to use "Hit, run and hide" guerilla tactics which is the Highland way, then victory will be assured!

Come on wind and rain, it'll help us more than them. ;)

Yes. :(

Should've signed up, logistically tres difficile as I've no holiday leave left, Berwick is a tad far away at 5 hours for me and just been away skiing on holiday so funds tight. Where there's a will there's a way of course.

However having not been on a course or hit a ball other than in my garden since September I would be like a Penfold Ace in a bag of Titleist ProV1's and next to useless for my team. :(

An event outside of winter would be good in future, although looking at the Glen and Craigielaw bad weather pics from last autumn it doesn't seem to matter what time of year we play!! :(

What wrong with going to the range birdieman? Think we have been down this route before but I cant remember, what scores do you post after such a long lay off? And how long does it take to get back down to 5?

Nearest range is about 50 minutes away which is a little far after an 8-5. Babysitting duties on a Saturday as Mrs works. Usually in winter I can squeeze a few games in but not this winter, it's been snowy or hard frost on the ground for a long time, now finally going.
Long game never changes much - do some weights and swing a speedstick in winter. I have no trouble after a layoff, 2 or 3 practice sessions hitting a few hundred balls is normally sufficient to groove a swing. I have a natural simple swing but need to watch my grip and hip sliding. I'm more inclined to chip and pitch a lot to get sharp. This layoff has been unusually long so we'll see when season starts.
Always been a bit of a scrambler to stay at 4/5, I don't have super distance or power but have always been able to hit short irons well and get up and down from off the green consistently. I have accurate distance info on all my short clubs so can save a lot of pars rather than hit tons of birdies.
If I can improve my long and mid iron play and keep the driver straighter (always left) I can still improve if I can stay free of back trouble!

I'm full of admiration for the guys that put their names down for this. Despite the "battle" being a superb idea, the thought of playing golf on the North East coast in February didn't really turn me on, but it looks like they have been rewarded (with the weather) for their determination. Fortune favours the brave.
Well done lads, and whatever the outcome.......have a great time.
