Think they are well past that stage, whilst I'm strongly anti what nissan have done the cut off for the app use is 2016 cars. That's 8 years ago.

I'd be annoyed if my app didn't work but then on the vauxhall it never worked because it was crap so I just used the car settings anyways (which is still available here just can't remotely set them)

Guess they didn't put the ability to change the SIM to a say 4g SIM in the cars
Nissan are saying “ we have a great app for our cars! Except yours as it’s 8 yrs old so you can’t use some of the built in features”
That’s not good PR when Governments are trying to get people to swap to EVs. Imo.

It's a bad pr for nissan

The bad pr for EV are the turning off of support from government

Yes but you know what the press are like.

“Manufacturers turn off support for older EVs”

I can see the headlines !

Which is what the lords rightly pointed out. Hatchet job by the press on EVs

The sooner we all just stop reading the papers the nicer the world shall be

Daily mail leading with e bus recall due to fire risk.. ignoring the fact it's the air con that is the issue not the e bus .

Are they turning something off?
My understanding is that the networks are turning off 2G and the cars have 2G fitted and can’t connect on newer still available networks,

Was 2G the only thing available back then, or was 3G or even 4G around and they saved costs by going 2G?

What is being used in current cars? 4G or 5G?

My Kia is 4G connection

2g is being switched off (as is 3g to be fair)

However what is a kicker to those owners is nissan are doing this now when 2g hasn't been switched off yet .. it will be another 6 years and knowing how this country works that will be 10 years

What exactly are the Government turning off? I thought that it was the network providers were turning off the older 2G and 3G networks and not the government?
I think he's referring to financial support in he form of EV grants and additionally infrastructure commitments that have either been scaled back, pushed back or completely scrapped.

As @GreiginFife has said it's forcing people onto EV but cutting the support

Cutting the grant to get one
Changing the law about car parks from all car parks must have charging to only new car parks

Things like that

Cracking machine.

definitely - had me checking autotrader for second hand ones! I had a 2005 (revised version 1) back in 2008 and it was a phenominal machine to drive - so relaxed and commanding view of the road - all it needed was more grunt but the new versions of their 3l diesel are truly superb as Joe says

£75,000 And only £1555 road tax per year, not forgetting over £120 to fill the tank.

Is that just ICE service or are electric cheaper? Which are better on depreciation, which is the biggest cost usually?
I'm no mechanic but I'd say there would be less for an EV as there would be no oil to change, no spark plugs, no emissions to test, no cam belt and filters.
£1555 per year? Is the top rate of VED not £180 plus LVS of £390?

First year is usually high but it’s absorbed into the OTR price.
I was just going on what Autotrader says. However, after checking, the VED for a 2023 model is £170 which seems more realistic

Depends bob, my 2 need to be serviced less. They con you with the Hyundai to service every year with a £90 inspection, and every other year is the more costly. Every 4 years is a very expensive coolant change as that's the coolant they used

The Kia on the other hand is 2 yearly services and every 2nd service is more expensive but not as expensive as the Hyundai

I did post it before if I find it I'll link it
