A PP showed me his KIA 4 today. He said if you press the remote it will reverse itself out without me getting in the car. He is probably still in the Club car park. He cannot remember how to do it. 😂😂😂👍

Lol I'm going to have a play around with it when mine arrives. That's the exact model I've ordered

I'm looking forward to putting all my golf gear in the boot when I play after work rather than stuffing it on back seats in the Corsa

I think he said it’s a KIA 4. Got to say it felt solid. And very nice indeed.

Today I met the Mrs on the driveway as she rolled up in the EV. She was excited to see me making the effort to receive her. Love was in the (freezing) air. It all crumbled when I walked past her and plugged the car in. I felt like a F1 pit crew waiting for her to box.

Car came home with 21% charge and it is needed tomorrow morning - so no time to lose. 8 hours of pit stop will give about 24%/50 miles. Can’t wait for an ev charger

The moral of the story is definitely where possible have it installed first! I'm glad I got mine installed first. The Corsa didn't even come with a granny charger I had to buy one. (Got a 10 meter variable amp one) having the charger ready does make the move to the next EV seamless but then Tesco is round the corner and the local pub just installed a rapid charger

The GI? I was surprised as I didn’t think EV charging would tie in with the pub’s demographic! 😆

I think the smartest move was from Asda.. they have a tie up with Tesla to roll out 20k chargers. Suddenly they will have Teslas instead of Vauxhalls parked outside. I m surprised that Sainsbury or Waitrose did not go there dfirst

Sainsbury's have done something

They are building a charge network of their own in their stores by the looks

Tbh superchargers rather than 7kw chargers in shopping centres is a great idea .. whilst you do your weekly shop you can actually charge to 80%

One thing I noticed years ago is that you have the poshest cars in front of the cheapest supermarkets.

The neighbours can see your driveway, they can’t see into your fridge.

When I took my parent’s Ford Sierra to Aldi it usually was one of the worst cars around.

That's how I see the future of charging.
You don't go somewhere to charge and sit and wait, you go somewhere to do something and while you're doing it, your car is charging. So golf clubs, gyms, supermarkets, the office, car parks, swimming pool, sport centres, cinema.....anywhere you can park your car really.
For those of you who are interested, CATL seem to be making strides with their new battery chemistry already in use in taxis in China.

My golf club has free charging ATM but only because it's type 1 old school (buy an adapter for £60) they are looking to change them then charge for them

When you break it down though, it isn't really the answer unless they install 10 chargers, 20 chargers.... The turnover of usage per day will mean that at best it will charge maybe 2 cars? Golfer arrives at 8am, plugs in car, warms up, plays golf, takes 4-4.5 hrs. Finishes round, maybe unplugs and moves car for the next person, maybe not. Perhaps person 2, playing in the afternoon gets to plug in, maybe not. It could be that one charger only ever charges one car per day.

This isn't to put the boot in, it's really to identify the scale of the infrastructure build we need. I know the numbers are increasing but we need a significant increase for it really to make a difference. The scale of the uplift required is pretty terrifying.

Tbh we have enough daily mail readers who refuse to get EV for it to be too much of an issue (my new car has vechile to load so I can boil a kettle . Not really needed but my mate loves tea hates EV. Might make him a tea in the car park to win him over)

It's free ATM and I've seen 4 cars using it in total. One is the pro who has a leaf , drives from the range to the club house (it is a stupidly designed range distance wise as it was built before the club) then you have the general managers plug in hyrbid, and 2 others

The others with ev never use it. I've never used it even tho it's free lol

Once they start paying to charge you really see only people who need it use it, happened with Tesco once they charged people stopped using it just because they could

Think we have 6 chargers ATM. Wouldn't surprise me if they install more tho
