Standard of driving

Not sure if you are having a pop ( can you explain it to me) or having bantz in which case you might be missing a smiley

Confused

He’s basically implying foreign people are probably going to be bad drivers and is shocked when one wasn’t. Typical gammon behaviour.

Methinks you might be reading too much into this, it may well have meant that other countries have better systems that produce better drivers.
I have driven in Serbia and Croatia and found the general standard to be pretty good.

It’s also not like Tash to take a racist stance on anything.

It’s clear that’s exactly what he’s doing but he clearly feels comfortable airing those views on here. Even if there’s no malice in it, this sort of dormant bias needs to be challenged.

Please stop mentioning your taxi driver’s nationality. We know what you’re getting at and it’s pretty disgusting.

Actually gob, the last two taxi drivers I had were from Eastern Europe. That's a fact. There driving was atrocious. That fits I with the topic. So does driving in supermarkets. However Bosco last night is from Serbia. Hie driving was as good as his English. So much so we had a little natter re our fave place to holiday. Italy. We had a natter in Italian. He also speaks better Italian than me. He " enhanced my lifestyle". You however do not. Hence my quote. " I like Bosco".
The only thing on this topic up to yet that is disgusting is your blinkered narrow mind.

Try this for once, if something is good try be as quick to say it is good as you are to criticism. Coz all I ever see from you is negativity.

You wouldn’t have told us if the driver was English. You felt the need to tell us when the driver wasn’t from England.

As a general rule, gammon don’t know they’re gammon. Case in point.

Plain and simple roads are just busier than they have ever been.

Housing estates built bringing people closer together, clogging up roads.

Cyclists everywhere, drivers young and old as cars are affordabe and readily available.

Add to that the difficulties of parking and city driving with all these one way systems cities have now, plus trams and cycle super highways... This is without considering bikes that be hired by a mobile adding to things, electric scooters and alike.

Driving was hard enough, now its quite challenging!

Its not just the standard of driver, which should be going up (and I think it generally is at least holding steady) as tests get harder to pass (which is a good thing), it’s where, what and when they are driving.

And once more you have been selective with your reading. Have you missed the post where I said driving in Italy and Sicily is woeful. Does that mean I don't like Italians, have you missed the like I put where I think drivers in the south are worse than up north. Does that mean I don't like southerners. Your last sentance hits the nail on the head. Have a good nights sleep in your sty.

And some would argue that your use of the word “Gammon” is equally as bad.

Can we all move on NOW please

The one I nearly ran over was nowhere near a crossing ,she just decided to walk out in front of me.
She was lucky I was only doing about 25mph because any faster I would not had time to stop.

As you've clearly made allowances for the 'failings' of a fellow road user...

I will excuse you from my first round of machine gunnings 😁😉👍...

I witnessed 2 pierces of shockingly bad driving tonight

1- guy doing about 50 down a main road and going straight over a zebra crossing as someone was crossing. Luckily the pedestrian saw him and stopped in time

2- woman not content with pulling onto a roundabout when an ambulance (flashing light and siren going) was approaching it she then stopped on the roundabout and blocked to the ambulances exit

Also saw the usual idiots with no lights on

In Sunny Hunny. Thought i heard someone dropping a bag of glass in an industrial bin. Turns out it was the local scrote. Somehow he was in a BMW and couldn’t get out so he booted the window out and legged it up the road with a gashed ankle.

What is defensive driving?

I don't agree with "defensive driving", I think its a bit antiquated these days.

Instead of defending and protecting something like space between you and other cars space etc you should give and leave space.

Defensive driving should be replaced by considerate, alert and aware driving.

Are new drivers told what to do if an emergency vehicle is coming .
I have seen all ages and some havnt got a clue what to do.
Seen one who just refused to go through the red light to let an ambulance past.

Isn’t that what defensive driving is???

Isn't that just common sense? I don't remember being taught what to do if an emergency vehicle was coming but if I see blue lights or hear a siren I get the F out of the way by any (safe) means possible.

It is illegal to do so. There were a few cases in the last year or two and their 'excuse' was that there was an ambulance up their rear with sirens going. So they edged past the red light.
Judge didn't give a flying Feck.. no excuse.. you're done!
Apparently you have to wait till the light changes and then let them through.. never mind that someone may die as a result.

The law is really an ass!
