Is it not defined?

Rule 160
Once moving you should
  • keep to the left, unless road signs or markings indicate otherwise. The exceptions are when you want to overtake, turn right or pass parked vehicles or pedestrians in the road
Looks like it's the left then, and again no mention of a line. ;)

People who don’t use bus lanes when not in the hours are clearly breaking this rule ..

Every 5 years ?! Seriously!

Whilst there does need to be a retest before the age of 70 , every 5 years is just stupid

Patience is easy to control on the road if you plan your journey better and understand that there are many different driving styles out there including people who prefer to drive defensively ( which is the better style )

What is defensive driving? Is that disrupting the flow, and letting cars pile up behind you because you don’t quite fancy doing 60 because 3 hours before it spitted abit, and a leaf blew infront of your car and shook you up disabling your right foot?

As for journey planning, I don’t know anybody else who zooms in on roundabouts, and unknown roads on google maps to plan what lanes I need to be in for an unknown journey. I’ll know everything about my journey even if I’ve never travelled there

I remember Michael Winner being interviewed a few years ago about driving. "£60 fine for driving in the bus lane. Bargain."

Pavel the taxi driver from Romania is on his way to pick us up. He don't know Mansfield. Fortunately his sat nav does. Shame it cannot tell him when to stop at a junction like it should of done last week. 🤔😖
Whatever happened to taxi drivers doing a course.

and folk not used to rural driving that that drive down the middle of the road even when going round a bend

If there is not enough room to have two cars pass each other, then why not position your car on the road in the position that gives you the longest view? It is called watching the apex.

How many tests in a year 😳

That said, ave just got back from the supermarket. Now there is the place to see some quality selfish driving.
18k zero fault passes last year.......
When I started back in 04/05 that number was in the hundreds.....
If that doesn't show that the test is easier then nothing does as the standard of driving hasn't improved .

One of my biggest gripes, when I was still commuting... Was, 'uber drivers' reliance on their devices to get about... Meaning they were never aware of what was going on around them... Traffic wise etc...

That’s all well and good but how many drivers on the roads today know and use apexes? How many drivers do you see maximise their driving lines and enter corners efficiently?
I think I’ve seen one person.
Most drive in the middle because they aren’t used to tight roads and cars either side. They suddenly can’t compute how narrow it is and go at crawling speed. See it a lot on terraced streets. Their peripheral vision isn’t good because they’re so used to wide open roads.

As I've now become a fully paid up member of team pedestrian...
I am coming around to the thought of lining up all motorists, against a wall, and machine gunning them as the safest way forward...
Plenty of stupid pedestrians getting run over and damaging cars with their soft bodies.
headphones on while playing candy crush on their phones

I was talking about our local roads which have more than enough room for two cars to pass each other. The problem occurs when you come round the bend and a car is in the middle of the road coming from the other direction.

It is very noticeable that many drivers do not position their car according to where the side of the road is even on wider roads. Lots of drivers now want to position there car according to where the white line is (ie right wheel just about missing the white line rather than left wheel near to the left hand side of the road).

There's the thing... One should hope you'd be perfectly safe from motorists, on a mission to maim, whilst in a car park or on a crossing even if wearing headphones playing candy crush... Or, as has been the case with myself recently, using crutches to get about...

Now then, Bosco has picked me up tonight to bring me back to my humble abode. He is from Serbia. He drove better than a lot of people I know. I liked Bosco.

The one I nearly ran over was nowhere near a crossing ,she just decided to walk out in front of me.
She was lucky I was only doing about 25mph because any faster I would not had time to stop.

But off topic I think the standard of pedestrian has deteriorated in recent years with the introduction of phones (mini computers) people can’t go five mins without one , that includes drivers as well.

That’s why so many young drivers have accidents imo , they lack experience and are on the phone or txting.
In the USA it’s frightening how many are on the phone as it’s not banned yet.

I can only comment regards Florida, texting is illegal but not speaking

New low yesterday, nearly taken out in the High Street by a woman steering one handed because she had a mug of tea or coffee in the other. Unbelievable.

Please stop mentioning your taxi driver’s nationality. We know what you’re getting at and it’s pretty disgusting.
