Sky...

If correct I'd suggest they start with that then, might make the Q a bit shorter ;) They can always talk about canceling if no deal offered
Whenever I ring up, I am upfront about wanting a better deal. It gets them onside and they seem to work hard to try and keep any price increase to an absolute minimum. They know people are trying to play a game with the cancelling threat and it it serves the caller right if they just go ahead and cancel.

Yeah joking aside, the person should still find out what’s caused them to ask to cancel.
Lots of problems are easy fixed, cost being one of the popular ones. But as you say if cost is the issue then its best to say so, at least both ppl are working on the same problem then

People are playing a game, it’s the same game that Sky and others are playing. Buying tv deals is not just limited to Sky. You can go from company to company. It just seems Sky want to charge as much as they think people will pay. Sometimes it don’t work for them.

Binned off Sky about 5 years ago now. I was the only one watching it and really only for Celtic games and golf. Since they pay peanuts to the Scottish teams I just decided I wasn’t going to continue paying to fund the premier league.

Was with them for 20 years and they didn’t offer a deal at the time. When they split the sports up I was going to get just Sky Golf but they wanted me to take out the entertainment package with it and I think they quoted £38 a month for it and golf. Haven’t spoken to them since.

Thanks for your reply other than liking Celtic. 😜

My turn very soon for the 18 months renewal "chat".

Opening salvo from Sky about their broadband => currently paying £30 but as a "valued customer" your new price is £43. :ROFLMAO: .

I keep thinking I'm just going to go with internet and NOW tv.....good enough for us. But.....6 months? ago it was time for our Virgin renewal and I was ready to call it quits. We have a basic package, but with 2 boxes (one in the garage in front of elliptical)...and I think slightly faster internet speed. Total package just got bumped up to £53 a month. Kind of hard for me to complain about that price.....but sooner or later the cord is likely getting cut.

Good luck, it’s a pain in the arse isn’t it. I had to dance the dance a month ago. We have everything through Sky…. broadband, multi room, hd, Disney, bt and sky sports , Netflix and they wanted to put our bill up to £180.

We were paying £140 ish and with a bit of jiggery pokery, removing
Disney and Netflix we managed to get it down to £130 for 18 months.

The whole model stinks because you do the deal still not knowing if you’re being ripped off.

Does anyone have a number they can share to speak to a human? I want a better deal - but am currently in a loop with the very basic virtual assistant. Or do you effectively have to select cancel package to get more options? I don’t want to cancel I just don’t want to pay £125 a month to watch tv - the whole dance is annoying.

Have you checked on deals available on their website. I had more success this way for a entertainment and sports deal than spending over an hour on the online chat with someone in India.

We have all of the channels and have been a customer for >20 years. I don’t think there is an option of being able to select a differently priced package - just dropping or adding elements.

The best Sky deal I ever got was when I spoke to one of their staff who was a golfer and supported the same team as me.
I’ve never managed to get such a big discount since.

I don't pay for any telly, apart from Netflix. My Amazon Prime was to save on delivery costs and it does, plus I get free telly.

My broadband is Sky and am at the end of my 2 year contract - just got the 'it's going up my a few quid' email.

Any options?

I pay for BB and a landline I will never use currently, but couldn't find a plan for BB only.

If you are nearing the end of your contract or already out of contract to cancel you have to give a months notice from your contract date, which can be different to your D.Debit date, tell them you want to cancel and someone from the contracts retention dept will contact you and offer a deal.

Telling them you want to cancel always gets you to a person.

The only ways to do it without a landline are if you have a fibre to house service in your area or via satellite (Great 1st contract deals are often available with fibre to house satellite is very expensive). If you have really good 5g mobile signal also worth considering a 5g router but make sure you are buying an unlimited speed SIM card, SIM cards for phones are often speed limited.

I thought all providers do the phone call part of the package as an add on.

Thanks and the phone thing was just part of the best package when signing up.

We do have fibre, so will investigate.
