I am not being daft, thank you.

Children and women are different due to using different tees. Sadly at my club, virtually no juniors play in their comps.

I am a senior, but I don’t think it is right that they get their own reserved tee times and exclusive comps.

But, that is just my opinion.
Great, just don’t join our place and you’ll never have to worry!🙄

Two hours of prime weekend times devoted to some sort of social group (may well be cliquey at some clubs) is not something I would want at my club.
Difficult to get a weekend time at my place, especially in winter as it is.
Ours are not actually at the weekend , but if they were I would welcome it as the groups are none cliquey. In all honesty playing with the same four-ball all the time is probably more intrinsically cliquey though I certainly don't believe the tee should be reserved at all times exclusively for roll ups.
Why then should it be reserved exclusively for people with fast fingers to play exclusively with their mates?

Because they get their way. The whole purpose behind this whole thread. People just want things to go their way...and complain when they don't.

Because that option gives everyone the same rights to book the tee

Would you therefore be OK if there was a roll up, but once there you could request to play with certain other individuals who were there?

A roll up doesn't necessarily have to be a random draw after all
I would prefer to play the game that I wanted to play with my mates and not pay any sort of extra entry fee to be part to a competition I didn’t want to enter

But to play you have enter into a roll up and then not have the choice of who you play with 🤷‍♂️
If you don't wish to play in the roll up there are under any system discussed here far more times available to you than to those who do.
We have a number of members whose work takes them away and cannot play with a regular group whose club golf is centered around roll up.

Ours has a token £1 stake which is rather less than the entry for competitions.
If someone had some fundamental objections it would probably be waived we're pretty inclusive.
Yeah. A lot of the time, those that turned up decided amongst themselves to put £2, winner takes all. Sometimes, someone might not if they were not playing well and just wanted to practice. Or a new member might turn up to put a card in for handicap.

There are probably many many different roll up set ups that can be used. And I personally see them as being the most inclusive way of allowing all members to play.

Rather than allowing members to book their own slots, especially as busy, fastest finger first clubs. Some people are just not in a position to book a slot as soon as the slots go live

I'm trying to think of any scenario outside of golf where this would be considered normal and to question it would be considered anti-social.
Like a group of friends going to their local pub on a Friday night and being told they have to sit at separate tables because mingling is mandatory.

Well within golf all our medals are drawn.

But it is only within a fairly short time window when those who may be new to the club, have non golfing friends, travel a lot or who may wish to mingle out with an exclusive 4 ball are given that opportunity.
There are far more times available to others to book with whoever they wish to play.

You mean people going to a pub night that stated that there would be "mingling"? Yeah....shocking that that would happen.

Less common nowadays but they certainly would have to share access to the darts board ,bar billiards etc. In the old days.
