Random Irritations

SharePoint - making me feel like a luddite at the age of 38. Having to 'check out' documents and being unable to just overwrite the damn thing. What was wrong with an ordinary server that people have access to? SharePoint is a fiddly monstrosity.
Checking out should only be used if you don’t want people just overwriting them, otherwise that’s one of the best things about SharePoint, multiple people can be working on the same document.

Ordered a new "workmate" style work bench on Thursday, it could have been delivered yesterday but no one was going to be in, so I requested delivery for today.

Woke up to notifications that the item would be delivered on Monday....pee'd me off as no one is going to be in on Monday either. Threw my hands up in the air in mock exasperation, swore to nobody in particular and set about doing a few jobs before intending to head off out to B&Q to get some "bits".

Finished the jobs and was just on my way out when a very very attractive young lady campaigning on behalf of the Labour party knocked on my door asking about my thoughts on the forthcoming local council elections...it took me a good ten to fifteen minutes to get her to leave (I wasnt trying too hard to be fair)....was particularly interested in how the Labour party was going to try to force the Conservative's, currently running the council, to spend the pot-hole repair money the government had given them, but sadly I eventually ran out of topics on which to engage with the lovely ray of sunshine that was brightening my doorstep, on what was already a beaming Saturday morning, and she departed.

Anyway, topped up the dogs water and was just about to head out when two ladies knocked on my door wishing to engage with me on my views of passages within the Bible. I was somewhat less forthcoming and they were soon on their way.

Finally, I just got in my car at 11.15 and a message popped up on my phone saying my item would now be delivered sometime today between 11.15 and 13.15. So now I need to stay in to receive said parcel as I dont want it left on my doorstep.

Grrrrrr!

Workmate brings back a memory

I was made redundant back in 82. I asked the boss if I could borrow the factory's workmate to do some jobs whilst I was not working. I said just give a ring when you want it back . I never got a call so decided to take it back any way just to find the whole factory had been demolished.

John Bishop show last night. At half time a women gets blaggered. Shortly after the second half starts shes talking very loud to her partner. JB stops and asks for them to quieten or leave as they are stopping others enjoyment and his concentration.
They eventually leave,( she couldnt even walk up the stairs from their seating) then a woman in the very front complains to JB he took the mickey out of her. He didn't in any way, needing him to explain himself to her.He also said many stand ups would have ripped her to shreds, he didn't.
The whole auditorium supported and applauded him.
It was a very good evening, and also very touching. JB has obviously had a few issues recently and he came clean about everything.
My thanks to JB for an entertaining evening and for dealing so well with those 2 women.
They are my irritation.

Kettle and toaster from Amazon to be delivered yesterday. Advised early am it was despatched with delivery same day time not yet suggested (unusual for Amazon).
Mid afternoon wife asked Alexa, as I was on the course and she wanted to go out, and Alexa said "Delivered yesterday".
Then I get notice from Amazon "Delivered through letterbox" (yesterday).
Eventually, after a scout around, we find a large parcel in the green garden waste bin outside. The bin is full as it's not being collected at the moment so the large parcel had to be forced in with some pressure to close the lid.
In fairness, being avery long standing customer of Amazon, this is down to an idiot delivery driver feeding them crap info.
I'll bring it to their attention though.
