Random Irritations

Paypal support - a total oxymoron.
They've utterly cocked up a dispute raised by a buyer (I am the seller), and it is *impossible* to get to speak to a real person about it.
All their support is now done by some useless AI chatbot, and they've shut down the paypal community.

Really keen to support a local indie optician but their air of entitlement and crazy pricing is forcing my hand to walk out with my prescription and use an online reglazing service.

Random Irritations v What are you Watching.
Great British Menu.
In every series I've watched, when the guest judge chef takes the competing chef off to taste their offering, they ask the same unoriginal scripted questions:
"Are you happy with ...."
The seasoning....
The texture.....
The sauce.....
The flavour of....
The presentation....
Would you do anything different.....
I've yet to hear a chef say "To be honest, I think it's sh**e".

The fine for being sent off in Sunday League (in our league anyway) is now £55. Now, I know you're not meant to get sent off, but one of our new youngest players got involved in a little tit-for-tat with an opposing player and ended up getting a red - I think £55 is a mental amount of money to fine a young player. I'm sure it used to be £30 which felt like plenty to me. What young lad has £55 lying around these days? The club will have to pay that now (and we have precious little funds since we're not bankrolled by anyone) and I'll spend the next year chasing him to clear his debts now I expect. No wonder clubs are folding left, right and centre.

Can they not get their parents to stump up. They could take it out his birthday money.

When I say young lad, I don't mean a child - this is adult's level football so he must be over 18.
It was £6 when I was last sent off, Circa 1985.* Think I was earning about £60 per week so about 10% of my wages.

What does a 18 year old earn now? about £400 per week so it is a bit high.

*Edit I remember the “hearing” was in the upstairs room of a Pub called “The Caxton” on the Highway E1. All long gone now, I remember I was bricking it though, rumours that fighting carried a hefty ban. Got weighed off in about 30 seconds, 3 match ban and £6. 😁

Fines are all pretty standard now, it comes through on the online portal. The invoice breaks it down as £40 for the fine plus £15 'discipline admin charge'. 🙄 Hard not to feel like they are ripping clubs off with that.

Why should the local FA not charge for things they have to pay staff to do?
I bet he probably spends more than that on a Saturday night out with his mates.;)

Isn't it the same fine for all leagues, so the PL players earing £200k a week pays the same?

£15 though? For what? Seems steep to me. Like when they charge you £5 to print your tickets at home for a gig. It's just an excuse to get more money out of you.

No idea, that would be quite funny though. Imagine telling Virgil Van Dijk he needs to chuck 55 quid in the pot for his red card - if he ever actually got a red card that is.
Yeah that would require refs not to let him off so often
