Random Irritations

I’d like to have seen the Hairy Biker bloke, think he would have been good.
That said, I do like the call about the bloke from the Hairy Bikers. I cannot see him doing anything like he used to do again but something like Masterchef would suit him perfectly and he comes across as having a lovely, supportive personality. That said, maybe he is too nice for what Masterchef aims for. He would be great on Bake Off.
He does have a name, Si King.

Si King is on local social media sites quite often, lives in the NE, whilst going about his regular life. Obviously, cafe owners, bar owners etc want a picture with him. Comes across as a genuinely nice guy, is generous with his time. Never heard a bad word said about him. (nor Dave Myers previously for that matter).

In terms of judging, I don't think that would suit him. He is too nice a guy, wants people to do well. I don't want to see 'mean Si King', if that person even exists 😄

He plays percussion for a local funk/soul band called Groovetrain, they are amazing btw. I say plays percussion, he doesn’t do a lot and it’s more a token gesture tbf.

"What do you want for Christmas Ben?"

Literally no idea at all... I really don't like having to pick presents for the sake of it..

Same for me and probably a lot of blokes. I don't wait around if I want something, I buy it. Usually I just start dropping her links to County Golf or Druids in December.

My sister asked what I wanted this year. I said a sleeve of avx balls. £15 but I said buy a box and then you can do a sleeve for bday and Xmas for 2 years

She then said if you buy me these ear rings (£10) as I had already got her something she would get me the box for Xmas

Excellent negotiations

I don't even really need golf stuff this time around!

I've got a new pair of golf shoes coming, mainly because I've checked stock every day for an Adidas Villa hoodie since mid November and its still not been re-stocked - so I'm down to plan B!

People don't get why I don't want the £12 balls from sports direct...

I don't want for much!

This is probably my biggest problem with Xmas.....spending money on things people don't really want and trying to look appreciative when you receive something that, internally, makes you groan.

...and add in Christmas Cards. Utter nonsense.

Got my 86 year old mum in law in a mega-tizzy in case she misses someone who sends her one. My wife similar as her mum rings 4 times a day to report whose card has arrived! Ditto re presents. When I was working, girls used to arrive in the office with a box of blank cards to write to anyone who unexpectedly gave them a card. Madness :)

Don't get me started on bloody Xmas cards....

That's why I champion giving money. It's the voucher that can be spent anywhere ... Save them up happy days

As a family (ie parents/sister/brothers) we were aware that we would travel to our Christmas bash loaded with gifts of wine/chocolates/edibles etc - and then come away afterwards loaded down with a different selection of wine/chocolates/edibles etc. So we collectively thought 'why not donate the spend to a charity instead'. So that's what we do. Sorted.

We as a family stopped buying gifts for each other except for the kids, as it got to a similar state as Backwoodsman says except we were just swopping £20 notes with each other, hardly the spirit of Christmas.
