It isn't that. That, I looked it up on google 😄 , is about controlling from one remote. The problem currently is the box not kicking in at all on occasions, leaving the tv quiet. It doesn't go back to the tv speakers, it just goes quiet.

I had a play around last night. Annoyingly, I tried an optical cable connection and that worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the sky remote will not work with that so we would need 2 remotes, one purely for the volume  . Not good. I have moved the HDMI cable around, in case it was in the wrong hole in the tv. Also played around with the tv sound connection settings. That seemed to work last night and this morning but time will tell if that has fixed it. The box is 10-15 years old, it doesn't owe me anything. The tv without it sounds rubbish though so if I do have to get rid I will be getting a replacement in January. It can't be one of the long bars though, that would not pass 'the pretty test' in the living room 😄
Not exactly the same but our subwoofer was behaving like this, was switched on but wouldn’t activate at random times.

Opened it up and there were a couple of capacitors that were done. Replaced them (and the other caps on the board) with upgraded Panasonic ones and it’s been perfect since.

Apologies if this is deemed political. And come to think of it, it's more than an irritation:

Sara Sharif's father getting away with a 40 year minimum. If ever there was a need for a whole of life tariff, this was it.

I couldn't believe I didn't hear the words "whole" before his sentence. Evil, evil, evil man who should never ever walk free. I can't help but hope he suffers a bit of retribution behind bars.

Death penalty!
This will save money, food, water and space in prisons.
It'll also reduce the risk of re-offence to 0%!

I actually think Grace Dent is a good call, I like having one non chef involved.

I actually think she is a decent food critic and would have opted for her or Jay Raynor as options to present.

That said, I do like the call about the bloke from the Hairy Bikers. I cannot see him doing anything like he used to do again but something like Masterchef would suit him perfectly and he comes across as having a lovely, supportive personality. That said, maybe he is too nice for what Masterchef aims for. He would be great on Bake Off.

Yikes there is worse than Grace Dent, Jay Raynor :) Maybe it should be a presenter rather than someone in the food industry. So less pretentious and someone who might actually spit out a cockle or piece of slimy aubergine!

I like Jay Raynor. On Twitter he gave a bucket list of 10 restaurants that were not pretentious but were excellent to a terminally ill man and i have been trying to get to all of them. So far they have been superb. Sadly the man passed before trying all 10.
