I have a sound box for the tv. Nice bit of kit, really helps give a solid sound in comparison to the tv speakers. I've had it for years, done us well (it's similar in size to an old style video recorder or a slightly bigger sky box. It's now starting to be inconsistent, not always kicking in when the tv turns on. I do a workaround but my wife can't be fagged with that and she is running out of patience with it. I fear it may be gone within days.

I've tried different connections, no difference. I have looked at alternatives and most seem to be bars which are long and noticeable. My wife wants minimal, not a bar. Weedy sound is coming my way :(
You could add a discrete sub possibly, bass isnt directional so can be hidden well away. It's certainly adds depth

Change the tv then;)
My 65” Panasonic OLED has 8 speakers I think it is, and is so good the surround sound system sits redundant.
Changed it for the last World Cup so it's only a year old. I'll figure something out, it's just a shame that something that worked really well, was relatively small in comparison to most bars, has started to glitch.

I've always wondered if that's what people think. I'm very OCD about where I park and will literally park furthest away with spaces all around so some numpty doesn't damage my car by opening their door against it. Return to find both sides now have cars parked and usually some fat plonker who no way can extracate their fat ass without leaning their door against mine. Does my head in.

Phew. That feels better!

Was that bubbling away underneath 😂

I’m still happy that we can use the parent child spots when we go shopping- even then some still manage to find ways to smack the cars

Was sat waiting in car last week some park next to me , opened his door to process to bang into my car , little dent , he just grumbled about parking to close to him 😂

Yep. It's a sad indication of a lack of respect for other people's property. I stress about parking facilities whenever I go somewhere. So I try to get David to take his car 🤣 🤣

The parent child bays are great. No need to take the trolley back. Just drive away!

Have you tried resetting the CEC settings or whatever they’re called?
It isn't that. That, I looked it up on google 😄 , is about controlling from one remote. The problem currently is the box not kicking in at all on occasions, leaving the tv quiet. It doesn't go back to the tv speakers, it just goes quiet.

I had a play around last night. Annoyingly, I tried an optical cable connection and that worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the sky remote will not work with that so we would need 2 remotes, one purely for the volume  . Not good. I have moved the HDMI cable around, in case it was in the wrong hole in the tv. Also played around with the tv sound connection settings. That seemed to work last night and this morning but time will tell if that has fixed it. The box is 10-15 years old, it doesn't owe me anything. The tv without it sounds rubbish though so if I do have to get rid I will be getting a replacement in January. It can't be one of the long bars though, that would not pass 'the pretty test' in the living room 😄

I just lost an hour of my life on the phone switching from BT to Sky.
Every time the (otherwise charming) guy took a personal detail he confirmed it by reading it back to me and continued to confirm each detail along with the previous detail. Tedious enough, but he confirmed everything using the NATO phonetic alphabet!!😖😖
All at breakneck speed.
If I wasnt making such a big saving I'd have treated him to my full vocabulary of expletives starting with Foxtrot... Uniform... Charlie... 😬

Have you looked at One For All programmable remote controls?
They're a bit of a faff to set up the first time but after that everything is just so simple.

We have a busy road at the top of our street. There is a set of traffic lights which I need to use at least 4 times a day to cross it when taking the dogs out. One thing that really infuriates me is drivers who speed up when the lights are changing, often going through on red. This is a pretty common occurrence.

I had to nip up to the co-op this morning, which also entails using that crossing. On the way back, the lights went red, and I could see the car approaching wasn't going to stop. So I made an exaggerated movement to look as if I was about step out. Pretty infantile, but the look of panic on the driver's face as he slammed on his brakes, stopping about 10 yards after the crossing, was priceless. I know it was stupid, maybe even a bit dangerous, but it cheered me up no end.

Yeah that annoys me as well. My little girl was watching an educational video yesterday where they were talking about traffic lights - they said 'green means go, yellow means slooow, and red means stops'. I thought, that's not what it means round here. Yellow seems to mean put your foot down and race through before it goes red.
