Random Irritations

Received an email from our golf club which included the following;

"We now have sanitary bins in the men's toilets in both the clubhouse toilets and changing room toilets, please discard used sanitary towels and incontinence pads in these rather than placing them in the waste bin."

The world's gone bonkers mental.

Yes it's poor. Even with the settings as they should be, it often ignores one or other lines even when that line's status is good.
I use it, but check Google Maps when there seems to be an obvious error.
CityMapper is a pretty decent app you can use as well.

Is it advanced planning? IE a weekend. Is the DLR closed that weekend for engineering works?

Ps yes it's a piece of rubbish
No. I just wanted to see a likely journey time for a section I don't use much. I just thought, rather foolishly, that getting it straight from the horses mouth would be the quickest way of finding out :)

Working on a project that absolutely loves wasting people's time. Just sat through a half hour meeting with no relevance to my role whatsoever, because "everyone must attend". When I already have a half day team meeting this afternoon as well - that everyone must attend.

Ignoring what appears to be your transphobic attitude, do you really think a golf club won’t have plenty of older men with incontinence issues?

One of the joys of being a contractor. I always reject these meetings as they don’t contribute to delivery of my statement of work.

My intention was to 'listen in' on Teams even though I'm in the office today so I could continue working at the same time. Nope, someone actively went round the office to round us up and said listening on Teams wasn't good enough. What a joke. (It was a meeting about Risersafe installation on site - I am a document controller who works solely in the office.)

Sadly these are the idiocies that permies have to suffer.
All you can do is push back, maybe record the non value add time and add a cost to it. Cost seems to be the only thing some levels of management understand.

Don't be ridiculous lol that would be logical

And to make matters worse, the system I manage for my day-to-day work has ceased working. So a totally useless day essentially with nothing of any use done at all. Well worth travelling into the office for.

I had one of these a few years ago joining an offshore vessel for a wind farm job in Liverpool. The contractor had a site office over the water in Birkenhead and insisted that everyone joining the project had to go to the office for a safety induction. Four of us got a taxi to the office and spent 6 hours being told about the HSE for the site office including speed limits and muster points in the event of a fire alarm. All of the info was about the site office despite the fact that we were going to be on a boat. If they hadn't insisted on us going to the site office for the induction we would have had no need to go to the site office at all during the job and wouldn't have needed to do the induction. I'm convinced that 95% of health and safety in people trying to justify having their job.

Diatomaceous earth
This stuff is brilliant, I've had ants for years and tried most treatments but they kept coming back.
Don't buy the large tubs, you don't need much.
300g would probably be enough
I bought some DE from Amazon shortly after reading this. It arrived on Tuesday evening and I applied it immediately to the areas where we thought the ants were getting in.
The next morning - hardly any ants.
This morning - no ants.
It is good stuff. I just assumed you needed to be using poison for such fast and positive results.
Thank you @bobmac
