Random Irritations

Surprised to hear that , I’m a fisherman and need to know about weather conditions and XC Weather is the best forecast I’ve found.
Yes I wish it were true but for example they forecast along with the BBC that we were due to have over 6mm of rain here last Sunday when the Met Office was predicting only a 10% chance - in the event we had 0mm.

I use Met Office app, it mostly seems decent. But I think no matter what app you use, more than 48 hours in advance is absolute guesswork. I trust it to tell me the weather today, tomorrow and possibly the day after at a push and that's it.

Have found XC weather decent in the main although it's been off a few times in the last week. Was hoping to be well passed the stage of requiring checking the apps before arranging golf given we are in early May!

40 minutes on hold to hmrc. I finally get through to a human and then get cut off 🤬🤬. Is there a more broken and inept service out there? Deliberately designed to make it awkward to contact, no email, push towards the phone then only employ 3 people to answer them. Aaarrggggghhhhh

I’ve had that many times when calling them

Had MOT done yesterday. I mentioned beforehand that the coolant cap seemed to be stuck hence we'd been unable to top it up. Passed the MOT but he's replaced the coolant cap and charged me an extra £32! Sheesh. I thought he'd just wedge it off or something.

10 quid part, 10 minutes work, admin, probably a minimum of 30-minute rate available. 32quid seems fair to me.

If ever I have to phone some kind of agency like that I'll always select the 'make a payment' option. Amazing how quick someone picks the phone up on that line...

Wouldnt be at all surprised if rhe rad cap wasnt the full amount and he's changed ir for free. He should be thanking the garage not moaning about it
Nah, it was itemised as £12 for the cap and £20 to change it. Just wasn't expecting it that's all, and it brought my MOT overall up to £78. 😬 A bit of a hit when we're struggling for money at the money as my wife's on a pittance of maternity pay.

My wife's been on emergency tax for months now, trying to get through to someone .. laughable

"You can do most things online" yes apart from most useful things

No system to email them

Only open when most people at work anyways not a cheeky Saturday morning or late evening

Just make it so you can email them (or secure message through your account at least) so they could take say 7 working days even would be enough

It's not rocket science is it? As you say, allow you to message through your account, that is is a secure method. Irony is, I will owe them money, I'm trying to tell them this.

On some cars changing a bulb takes ages. On my old Megane you had to take half of the engine out to reach it. For most garages it was an hour plus to change a bulb until I found one that had a mechanic with small hands who could change the bulb without removing anything and took 5 minutes. They used to have people queuing up for bulb changes.

It shoudl be law that certain basic maintenance on a car can be done with no specialist tools or skills. What if you bulb goes on the way home at night. No way you can change it on the roadside on a large number of cars.

I have no idea why also now it's the new tax set why her code hasn't been reset? Think we up to £800 they owe her now

Getting ridiculous lol

She now works full time but because of this takes home the same as part time

Will come back one day ofc, just prob 17 years time 😆

I have a Mazda 6. To change the headlight bulb you need to remove the wheel arch clips, pull back the plastic, contort your arm, whilst laying down, unscrew the old bulb, unclip the blub (all done blind and one handed because the other arm holds the plastic back), insert new blub and refit. I stripped the skin on both arms quite badly doing mine . You either need to wear kevlar arm protection or enlist a small child, I'm talking full Victorian era, to unfit and fit whilst an adult keeps the arch covering back. The designer was an idiot of the highest order and I second your proposal (y)

My first training car was a 54 plate Polo....if a headlight bulb went you had to have the whole of the bumper removed to be able to change it.
Our local Citroen dealer always had a young lad with slim hands employed to change bulbs...the more modern cares are a lot better..
