Random Irritations

As it was touched on earlier, I think they should re-define things to incorporate the "radio" aspect. I tend to rationalise the money spent on giving me access to this side of things, as I will listen to far more BBC stuff than I watch.

The same person who brought to light the Trump stitch up also highlighted this from BBC Arabic…

Not sure how some can defend them really? I think the whole organisation needs breaking up.

I understand the annoyance with impartiality - bias in any format of "news" has irritated me for years; I'm always just looking for facts rather than opinion.
But compared to the costs of all the other available subscriptions or the fees sought to go ad free from commercial media outlets, the licence fee for all BBC output is ridiculously good value for money.

So those who watch it wouldn't mind a subscription model if they think it's value for money, even if it means the price goes up. The BBC is not value for money at all if you don't watch it.

Most of us pay many taxes supporting services that don't benefit us directly because we don't use them. Society innit?
Irritation with the news and output that we don't like aside, the BBC has historically provided and still maintains services to us and the rest of the world that have been hugely beneficial to all of us.
They've done more good than harm in their 100 odd years.

As I said in an earlier post, housing and food (and other things) are essential, BBC TV isn't.

The BBC and License fee will always be unbelievable value for what you pay and the services it provides

All the tv channels
Iplayer
BBC radios
The website
World Service

It’s an invaluable service to millions in the country that can’t afford subscription telly
I would see a membership at Wentworth or Queenwood as invaluable too. Doesn't mean that others should pay for it on my behalf.

Well the two I've crossed out are free, so forget them. You can watch anything on any other channel on catch-up, so that hugely negates the value of your first point as well. Ok you lose access to iPlayer, but they hardly have any good programs anyway - and the best ones will turn up on Netflix in a couple of years. I'm not seeing this great value at all.

It is subscription tv though, you need to pay a license fee to watch it. They just haven't bothered to scramble the signal yet.

What do you think pays for those you crossed out

Especially when they've basically given up on live sport in any capacity.

That's not relevant. You were talking about whether it's good value for the consumer. It's never good value to try and justify paying for something that you already get for free.

Of course it’s relevant

They are services provided by the BBC from the license fee

Remove the fee then what funds all those services

They aren’t “free” to run
