As far as iced windscreens, I no longer worry about it. Recent purchase of a house with a double.....double garage. I park inside.... is this what rich people feel like?

Without question a rarity! Saw a car leaving the village a few mornings ago "they park in their garage" I said...stuck out a mile that it had no ice and frost anywhere.

Although I wonder if those with double garages, that aren't full of junk, just cba with the hassle so leave it on the drive...

TBF my car has no ice or frost by the time I go out to use it. 30 mins of hearting the interior to 25c sees to that.

Wouldn't the airline have to provide transport to the original airport in a case of diversion..?
They can't just abandon a couple of hundred people 90 miles away can they..?
The flight should have landed in Manchester at 8:30pm pick up car, drive back home by 1am

They would have laid on coaches. but landing at Brum at 11 pm , away to Manchester 11:45, into Manchester 01:15. Then get car, de ice it and drive through the night, just not happening. She would have had to try and find a hotel to crash at.

Far better to pick her up and get her home, then sort the car out later

Train from MK to Manchester airport is £25 with my auld Phart rail card, takes 2 1/2 hours with 1 change

She did really well to drive and get home at 3 am in minus 7 temps 👍

MSM over the top reporting of the LA fires, over half the news on the BBC app is Live coverage of the fires. It’s been like it since it started. Earlier this week it was Carters funeral, and Al Fayed getting the wall to wall coverage … strangely no mention of the economy though.🤔

I use tepid water, it works perfectly and there is no danger of the windscreen cracking. I think people have seen warm and assumed hot because it's coming from a kettle. The only thing you have to be careful of, if it's really cold, is the water freezing on the windscreen once poured. Swish the wipers a couple of times once you've poured the water on and you are good to go 👍
Yeah - my car's been frozen each morning this week, I just fill a measuring jug of water from the hot tap and poor that on. Clears it very quickly. Sod waiting for the kettle to boil anyway, let own the potential cracking - you don't need it that hot.

It’s saturday, financial markets are closed, Parliament not in session, what is there actually to report on a weekend?
The economy has been discussed this week and is still 3rd on the Sky News App.

I have found the obsession with the US fires painful. It's a story, but for us it isn't the headline or the bulk of a bulletin. Our news has become very US obsessed whilst ignoring what happens with our European neighbours.
Out of all the news this week the announcement that we the UK are down to about a weeks worth of Gas demand in store I found the most worrying, hopefully this cold snap is coming to an end as forecasted.

Back in the day when was going to work/office daily, I kept a fan heater on extension lead handy. Pop it in the car while sorting self out and a defrosted car was waiting.
Then my 13 yr old motor (that wasn't a full EV) had preheating, so tended to use that - I wasn't travelling daily by then though. TBF the preheat on the EV is easier.
