Random Irritations

Not a flounce, but I have binned my Twitter (I refuse to call it X) account.

Last few months it has become toxic with extremist views everywhere and that Musk bloke is being an A grade knob and I have no desire to support his platform.

Iā€™ve kept Twitter, so far, but my page is set up for ā€œfollowing,ā€ not ā€œfor you.ā€ Still get bilge coming through but thereā€™s several groups of people I follow. Post Office scandal, a cancer support group & a Middlesbrough FC page. The PO group is good as it includes ex-SubPostmasters, legal firms, journalists & announcements from the Inquiry.

As for Musk, the guy is a dangerous fruitcake.

Thought about going over to Blue Sky but had read itā€™s backed by the Chinese govtā€¦

Waiting in today for a tradesman to come and install smart meters, and got the usual will be here between 8 and 12. I have been sent loads of messages and phone calls telling me what to do before they come but they can't even tell me if I am first or second or whatever to give a better idea of when they are coming. I know jobs take different lengths of time, traffic etc, but they must know what order they are doing the jobs.

Done exactly the same, I think a flounce is far better though for the effect.šŸ˜‰

I rarely go onto Facebook these day, getting hugely irritated by the volume of ads and reels that fill and pollute my ā€˜wallā€™ or whatever you call it. I would happily junk it were it not for a couple of groups that see interesting stuff posted, plus my BiL posted quit a lot over the years that may be of interest to my wife and that she currently doesnā€™t want to loseā€¦we might get it downloaded and then I might kick Facebook into the long grass.

Read that last night, absolutely mental.
Luckily they never killed somebody.
someone posted a video of when they where being looked for by staff from the wildlife park, there were nor weary of people at all which indicated they are relatively domesticated. caught almost immediately with just food in a trap. indicating they were already hungry so wouldn't have lasted too long out there. we are consulting on a trial reintroduction program, so they might be able to help with that breeding wise. once they are quarantined i think they might be going back to the HWP where there are already some

Been having problems with meter readings at my daughter's flat. She has been there for over a year, the smart meter never sends any readings so we have had to take them manually.

The latest reading was 29,000-odd. Got a message back saying that reading is out of line, we can't process it. I had a look back and it was perfectly in line with the previous readings. They then came back and said the reading should be circa 8,000. I queried that, and they then sent me a list of smart readings for the last year which ranged from 6,000-8,000.

After a load of emails, I finally got this explanation -

I have had a look at your account and can see the issue with the read discrepancy.

Your meter was initially installed as a 2 rate meter which was then remotely switched to a 1 rate meter and then you switched supply over to us.

In this case, you will be seeing a read which is a total of the R1 and R2 read.

However, we can only see the R1 read as the R2 rate has stopped advancing.

The R2 rate stopped on 21079.100 and this is the difference of the reads.

I understand this can be hard to understand however we have completed a rebill on your account so that the account balance is correct. Going forward, if you would like to give a manual read please take 21079.1 off of the figure you see and you will have the correct read.

It makes sense, but it is ludicrous to ask me to subtract 21079 from all future readings. All i want is a meter which displays the correct readings.

I know. I mean where do you get your hands on a couple of lynx? Pets R Us?
The two that were just caught, the article said they thought they are captive bred and might be brother and sister. it also said it was obvious where they were dropped they were dropped off, Straw, chick carcasses and porcupine quills and there was a layby with the same in. very strange

I did the same last week, it was a shame as it was useful for rail & traffic updates, but now just full of nonsense and bots.

Unbelievably, two more have just been spotted on the loose!

Yep. I use it for communicating with train companies (bike reservations in particular). Unfortunately, they don't seem to offer this service via other twitter-lite platforms.
Nothing else though.

When I had my second ones installed the fitter must have gone way over the allocated time because he could not get one to function properly (would not connect to the indoor display or send readings). In the end he gave up. It still does not connect to the indoor display but at least it is sending readings now.

Funnily enough our lecky meter isnā€™t connecting to the display either, but as that is going in the drawer I donā€™t care. Need to wait until tomorrow to see if it sends readings.
