Random Irritations

Fireworks, driving my dog to a state of sheer terror.
She's 12½ years old and has just been diagnosed as having a heart murmur.
Just hoping she makes it through the night!

She made it, but it obviously wiped her out as she didn't even want to go for a walk!
But maybe that was the weather.

do you know the difference between 'use by' and 'best before dates' - important to us pensioners 😂
I had a buddy that was making himself a meat sandwich. His wife looked at the past due date on the meat and questioned his choice. He said, “Dear, it says best before, not lethal after!”

My wife frequently sorts the fridge contents and separates the food into
1 stuff thats "ok" and,
2 "sh*t that you can eat before I bin it.
I then binge out of spite.

Things like dried pasta never used to have dates on. I'd have used it.
I did a bit of looking up after realising there was stuff in the larder over 30 years old. So some of it is still in there. Not sure why though for some of it as I will never use it anyway e.g sugar

When I bought my first house in 1990 I visited a spice store in the city centre nearby and bought myself a large packet of chilli powder. I filled a large old Nescafé jar and gave the rest away. It’s hot stuff.

I reckon I’ve cooked a chilli at least once a week in the 35 years since and I’ve still got 1/2 the jar left. Reckon it’ll outlast me.

We had a mouse in the kitchen years ago and it had wandered through the food cupboard (above the work tops and oven!).
I spotted a dropping.
My wife decimated the cupboard contents whilst I tried to rationally argue that canned food was perfectly safe.
Her response was "Not if a mouse has been walking all over it!!"
I lost that one.
