I do believe you are quite new to posting on here, no idea how long you may of observed, but the Rules thread was historically an excellent thread were people posted facts and it was an excellent resource, unfortunately it has deteriorated into people trying to “catch” the rules guys out or come uo with strange scenarios that would never happen in reality.

I’m all for debate/discussion etc, but there’s a few posts in the rules section now that have grown arms and legs and the correct answer to the op is hard to find.

I used to post many years ago, I can't remember my old username though so rejoined, I have nothing to hide.

Apologies I’ve done no research into the procurement process but I guess no one would go up against SA as their pockets would never be as deep? Surely there must be some positives…yes I’m playing devils advocate
@Neilds answered a chunk of this. Basically it came down to two continents only. Then, they gave SA quite a head start, but didn't with Australia. Australia wanted it but didn't have enough time to compile their bid properly. That left SA on their own. It was a loaded process.

I'm sure SA will build great stadiums, will be able to accommodate fans, same as the Qatar tournament. People claimed all sorts would go wrong with Qatar, it didn't (I'm not talking about the stadium build issues with workers, I'm meaning the tournament itself).

There can be positives, but the bidding process wasn't one of them

Getting the notification that my connected satnav online services has now expired.

Boom… out of no where the sat nav goes to a normal view instead of Google earth and the traffic alerts disappear.

No worries I’ll renew….. £140 a year!!!!

Before you press that button, have you tried android auto or apple carplay? Live maps, constantly updating. Best satnavs out there.

Assuming your car has the ability to connect to them 🤷

It’s Apple car play compatible so that’s no prob, I like the live Google dash as it appears on the main console and also between the clocks so you can be very reactive. As someone that drives for it’s quite key… just think it’s massively over priced.

Don’t even go there! In a 4 mile trip from west Wickham tonight I most have flashed 6 cars who didn’t have their lights on. It was around 5pm so dark and all were dark coloured cars.

Friggin numpties!
And yet some moan about automatic headlights......mine come on when it gets dark...go off when it gets light.....simples..
Back in the day your dashboard didn't light up if you didn't have your lights on...a gentle reminder...
These days it's like Blackpool illuminations inside....no wonder people forget....

Yes, except that I'm sure there have been some threads where there is not unanimous agreement between the likes of Colin, Steven Rules, salfordlad, rulefan, rulie, wjemather, etc. (Apologies to any other rules experts I've failed to mention). So there are clearly some scenarios where there is scope for discussion, even amongst the experts.

Yeah normally good threads when the have differences to sort through (y)
The diff between Lounge and Rules sections is that every single rules query will eventually have a definitive answer, even if they have to pop off to the R&A for a ruling

Automatic headlights are a great safety feature. So why do garages routinely switch them off when your car is in for a service?
