Automatic headlights are a great safety feature. So why do garages routinely switch them off when your car is in for a service?

In my opinion it would make zero difference driving around with lights on when it's light out. So why are we given a choice? Just make them be on all the time when engine is on..safety first

Probably because they will come on when the car is in the darker garage and be distracting/annoying. Then they just forget to reset them.
Same with the radio.

And yet some moan about automatic headlights......mine come on when it gets dark...go off when it gets light.....simples..
Your automatic lights may work well, but not all do.

My wife had a Hyundai i30 for about 6 months. The auto lights did not come on at dusk until it got quite dark, way too late. But they did come on for a couple of seconds when you went under a bridge during daylight! Definitely not a feature to be relied on.

Parcelforce were £10 Evri £7 after Evri let me down I'll use parcel force next time

I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 20 years. Every single carrier has caused me problems at one time or another. I have always been happy with Evri (Hermes) and others compensation schemes. Weight limits and parcel sizes are also a factor, Evri is more generous than Royal Mail.

Recently for smaller items I have started to use Royal Mail Tracked 48 which has improved a lot. I have noticed that a lot more sellers are also using this. Still means unpostable items are left on the doorstep whereas at one time it was collect them at the local post office after a card was left.

Insoles of shoes.. I have a pair of waterproof boots from Timberland. Looks good and functions well. However, walking in it is absolute hell. While it has sole which is like a tyre, the insole is hard as rock. My heel is dying.

So i had to spend another 15 quid for schols in-soles. It was either that or chuck away the boots. Today wearing them with my insoles.. absolute brilliant.

Why do shoe makers not think of the person wearing the boot rather than just aesthetics ..

I always figured Timberlands are exactly that though - a fashion brand designed for aesthetics rather than practical walking boots.

The Boots click and collect system in my local branch. Only ever 2 people on the register, click and collect orders are out the back and take an age to find. The queue at lunchtime is ridiculous when most people in it just want to get a quick meal deal.

Yeah. Love the Timberland deck shoes with chunky soles - I'll always own a pair for summer wear - but the boots I've owned have been 💩💩. Look nice but wear out really fast.

I've got Grangers insoles in most of my shoes. They're really comfortable.

I have a pair of their classic boots, 2 pairs of their walking boots and a pair of their trainers (thank you York Outlet 😄 ). Brilliant footwear, really comfy, for me. I'm not going up mountains in them, they are for day to day use. @Mudball has clearly had a bad experience but Timberland shoes are normally very reliable.

I like the brand.. used to wear it very often when i was in the US. But this boots are my first.. absolutely new experience on the insole. I have these ones, (but not from this retailer). Got them about a year ago, so completely broken in.

Maybe an accountant has decided to save $0.01 per shoe and changed the insoles to an inferior type. Would not be a surprise  . Not as if margins are tight on Timberland gear.

Wont be surprised... 0.01 over a 100,000 shoes adds up.. Love their shirts, but by God, cant afford it in the UK

I have quite a few shirts, they're great as you say, and I gave the shoe number above. All from the York outlet shop. I once walked into an actual high street version and nearly passed out at the full price of things 🫣. The outlets can be a bit random but you really can hit lucky sometimes.

I have a pair of Timberland walking boots that I bought in America in 2001.
They are great - comfortable & waterproof, and still going strong. (Not that I do much serious walking).

I also have some T-shirts and golf tops bought in America that have stood the test of time.
I get the impression that clothing in general that's made in the USA seems to be of a higher quality.
