I started it but couldn't get engaged so David watched the rest! Might give it another go although gangland stuff not really my cuppa (Peaky Blinders etc).

Plus I'm re-watching ER every spare TV moment and Mum, Fleabag, Two Doors Down and Detectorists!
Two Doors Down was superb, just finished watching it and now sad there's no more.

The new low in tipping culture in the US, when you pay by card the suggested amount that you tip is 18, 24 or 30%, very often this tip is on top of an already levied 15% on the bill. It is quite a palaver to override it and add your own ‘custom amount’.
Its not as if everything is initially cheap and this is just part of the cost, I am currently in Naples Florida and inflation over the past few years must have been enormous over here. We just drove past a low rent looking motel on the outskirts of town proudly boasting all rooms only $225! This plus the local taxes, occupancy fees and resort fees which can add anything up to $100 to your bill.
The price of decent golf is fairly eye watering too.

We were in Florida in the summer, and spent a few days in Naples. Having been to Florida now multiple times we were shocked at the increase in prices of just about everything - the cost of living has skyrocketed, with the possible exception of fuel. The grocery shopping was way more expensive than our last trip a few short years ago.

The tipping aspect had always been a bit of an irritant. I’m happy to tip for good service but what I noticed in the summer, which I haven’t previously been aware of, is that bar and restaurant staff now often ask if you’d like to leave a tip. It’s almost like a pressure sell, and it made me feel really uncomfortable.

Tipping is my choice. I’ll always tip if I receive good service, but I certainly won’t be bullied into it.

Have you watched St. Elsewhere?

When you mentioned ER and quirky shows, I immediately thought of that.

I think I might have a word with my wife to see if we want to watch the series again - more entertaining than most of the stuff you get now!

Eurosport insisting on having Kyrgios as co-commentator. Can we talk about me me me please...then sucks air through the microphone. Today he actually said "this is Kyrios, student of the game, and let me tell you".

If the volume of letters etc has dropped off, then the number of staff can be reduced. Not every house was delivered to every day anyway. The need has reduced, and as awful as it is just reduce the number of staff but retain a 5-6 day delivery.

Not sure your logic works.

If the postman is delivering to every 3rd house rather than every house he is still walking the same distance every day, so the same number of postmen is needed to cover the miles.

However, if he missed every xx houses on that route his pace of delivery increases (marginal gains) and then, in theory, he can cover more routes for delivery in the same time period.

In theory.

Having done a job with the amount of walking like that I used to feel pretty worn out by the time I got to the end of my route and I only used to go in to about every 5th house.

Went on a gravel ride this morning in the cairngorms, 4 lochs in and around Carrbridge, Boat of Garten, Glenmore Lodge, Morlich around the Lochs. Quite a big group, mostly younger guys.. got absolutely drilled, 4 hours of technical trails, a lot of climbing in 50mph winds🤣 I don't think there is a single part of body that doesn't ache 😥
