Road drain cleaning truck of a subcontractor to Thames Water managed to knock down a stretch of our front garden boundary wall early this past week. Driver admitted he did it and we have his telephone number and vehicle reg, plus we have a witness. I’ve logged with our insurers but we‘ve still heard nothing from his boss or his company insurers. A good few days now - you’d have thought that at least a courtesy call from the company…and it really shouldn’t be up to me to start chasing
it took me nearly 15 minutes to work out how to change it on my new car. I use the clock on my car a lot so want it to be correct.Does anyone actually set the clock in the car or do they do what I do and just leave it and drive around for 6 months of the year with the clock an hour out?

The idea was to be disguised as a witch or other spooky thing, but that was just so you could be out and about among the real spookies on hallowe’en without being recognised, but as long as you were in disguise and not easily recognisable then you’d be pretty safe. The Rock dressed up as David Beckham

I thought Halloween was supposed to be about being spooky.?
Dress up as a ghost or a witch or a zombie.....David bloody Beckham....Tiger...
Must be getting grumpier.......but I just don't get it...
Yea fillet just doesn’t have the fatty structure to stand up to extended sous vide. I’d reverse sear them instead. Let us know how it turns out at the shorter time.
Thing is…I haven’t had anything from my insurers telling me to go ahead and get a quote etc. though they did say that as I’d given them the reg of the vehicle they would be able to find out and contact the insurers of the truck. That said I am inclined to contact the company whose vehicle hit our wall and ask that they at least confirm to me that they are aware of the damage that their vehicle did. Maybe I’ll just hang fire.Leave to to the insurers to sort out.
When I worked in insurance the advice was always keep communication with the other party to a minimum needed by the insurance companies.
It is you insurance companies responsibility to carry out the repair and they will make the claim against the other party. If you have an excess to pay send a simple letter to the other party claiming for uninsured losses.
Yea I know that pain. I don’t do that sort of thing too often so haven’t really got the equipment for a really impressive sear. I’m considering getting a very powerful stand alone induction hob for those times where I need really intense immediate heat; the gas hob just doesn’t cut it for that.2 hours at 54c last night, wow the results were stunning. Need to work on my searing now. Couldn’t be bothered to dig out my cast iron pan so used a regular frying pan which didn’t really get that proper sear.
Probably should ask this on the electric car thread, but here goes:Yesterday getting to the club and realising I had left my clubs in the kitchen. Not a problem with time going home and back again but the realisation that I had intended to charge the electric car when I got home and it was now dark going home after the game with a massive amount of traffic.
This is when you realise that the mileage left goes down very quickly with everything turned on in the car. I stopped of in town to do a small charge up and let the traffic die down.
The upside was I was about an hour later than normal getting home and missed all the local children doing trick and treat.
Aha. I think I'll stick to celebrating the birth of my fellow Notts lad and the world of pickling.Yes, but think of someone 44 years younger.
You're thinking of the English version I think. In America it's pretty much just become fancy dress I think. The Rock dressed up as David Beckham
