I'm gearing myself up for blanket coverage of

Tiger is
Putting his shoes on
Walking across the car park.
Hitting chip shots
Hitting putts
Going to the toilet
How is he walking
How is he swinging
Is he limping
How is he hitting the ball
Can he walk 18 holes
Can he walk down that hill
Can he walk up that hill
Will he make the cut
Can he win
What filling is on that sandwich he is eating

He moves the needle when it comes to the sport

Millions will tune in just to watch him

I think there'll be more than that to look at considering he has a new caddy for this week and a new shirt sponsor

Given this I'm not sure - https://www.golfmonthly.com/news/10-times-things-went-too-far-at-the-2024-wm-phoenix-open
However the powers running the event have promised it won't be as bad - https://www.golfmonthly.com/news/we...hief-says-changes-will-be-made-for-2025-event

I'm not convinced with that many watching and the beer flowing they'll be able to fully control everything
As Ben An said it's a **** ****. I dislike the WM so much I found myself watching LIV for the first time ever.

This is probably a generational thing and I hope you find my different viewpoint interesting.

I was in nursery when Tiger won his 1st major.
Ive never seen Tiger win a major.

All I have seen is an old man limping around , missing cuts or withdrawing from tournaments.

I totally understand he is a legend of the game and its a big deal when he manages to enter a tournament but to me he is a legend in the same way as Palmer, Nicklaus & Seve as in i never saw them in their pomp.

My needle movers are Rory, Rahm and Hovland.
They are who I have been inspired by since taking up the game and move the needle for me.

Surely you saw him win his last major

Woods was the golfer of his generation but that time is passing/has passed depending on your point of view. Not sure there will be a singular golfer that will drive the game forward in the same way in my lifetime

Woods has won a major more recently that Rory - 2019 Masters which I believe smashed telly records , it’s iconic

There will no doubt that the viewing figures for this week for the Genesis will be the biggest any event has had this year - because of Woods

He still moves than needle and he will do for a while now yet ,

When he played in the Hero challenge the viewing figures doubled from the year before and were the best since 2019 ( when Woods also played )

Anyone will tell you on here I’m no woods fans and have never liked the coverage when he plays but he is still the biggest draw in the sport

Will he though if he struggles injury wise or with his form and misses cuts. No doubt the number will be up for the return this week but will it be sustained if he isn't on it. Personally I think even on a reduced schedule (once a month?) he is at last chance saloon and if he doesn't perform to his own standards he may well call it a day

Yeah I get it and understand his stature in the sport.

Just understand for me since taking up the game in 2021 I have seen Rory , Rahm and Hovland play amazing golf which inspires and just seen tiger struggle and hobble around.

But you must have seen golf before?

Because you would never have seen a lot the major winners of just starting 4 years ago .. only 11 majors won isn't it?
No before I was all in on Cricket, didnt watch any golf at all till trying it when some mates invited me during covid.

I get where you’re coming from. I struggle to watch video from before I played so even chat of players like Seve/Lyle etc etc has very little interest for me. Sure I knew of them, saw them once or twice a year on the bbc but don’t get enthused by them as players

Not only have we got blanket Tiger coverage to look forward to but also a possible Woods/McIlroy love-in for the first two rounds. Not sure if I can stomach that again.
