So it’s nearly time for one of my favourite sporting events

It allows a lot of sports that don’t get much airtime so time in spotlight

Looks like GB have some great chances for golds across multiple sports

Looking forward to seeing how the hockey teams do

OK....I've put commenting off. But....I'll be the Olympics Killjoy. It's time has come and gone. I'll record every day and watch "a few minutes" after things are over. It used to be special...now it's just an expensive sports event for whoever hosts it.

Mrs d and I got tickets for what turned out to be "Super Saturday" it was one of the best sporting events of my life.

I had the following day.
Saw the Super Saturday winners get their gold medals and I also caught the blur that was Usain Bolt .......................... twice!
Magical day and magnificently organised from start to finish.

I had the Friday opening athletics where Jess Ennis ran the 100m hurdle best in heptathlon ever. And one other athletics morning.
I also saw Beth Tweddle medal.

Plus triathlons, marathons, cycle road race, basically the stuff I was in to at the time anyway.

Oh, and a couple of friends where cycling as pidgins in the opening ceremony

Oh, I also saw 'Blade Runner', Oscar Pistorius, competing very badly!
He came last, I seem to remember. :ROFLMAO:

Some interesting new sports this year. Not sure about the breakdancing but will give it a watch but really want to see the kayak cross - 4 canoeists (I know!) going down the course at the same time, have to negotiate gates and also do a roll as well. Should be carnage!

Kayak turned out to be a great sport, even just the normal one.
This one sounds like Mario Cart on water and I am all for it. Already loved Mario Cart on snow in the winter Olympic.

Shocking news regarding Dujardin, although I've not seen the incident, it really doesn't sound good.
What is also shocking is the cynical timing of the video release.
However;
The video is four years old but suddenly gets released now!
By a Dutch lawyer!
The Dutch have a strong dressage team!

In other news, I hope the Dutch beach volleyball player breaks his bloody neck!!!

If the video is 4 years old I wonder why it hasn't come to light until now?

Whilst not taking away any wrong doing she may have done it’s clearly done to ensure she doesn’t compete and been done by a rival

As for the volleyball player that got convicted of rape - it’s a disgrace he is allowed to compete

Multiple rape of a 12 year old girl, who has since tried to commit suicide, for which he only spent one year in prison.
She was 12 years old ..................................... 12!!
He's now an Olympian.

NO, he should be in prison or, ideally, buried.
Sorry, but I feel quite strongly about this.
