For most comps we require eight WHS qualifying cards in 12 months to comp date. GP cards at ‘away’ clubs to not count towards the eight. Scratch and Handicap Club Champs require four club comp cards in the eight.

We have separate Scratch and Handicap trophies played for over the Club Championship weekend - members enter both so the qualifying card criteria applies. What the purpose of requiring handicapping scores for a scratch comp?

Assuming these are midweek, this seems rather unfair on (usually) younger seniors who are not retired (can't see many people willing to use of 3 days of their holiday entitlement to play in regular seniors comps in order to be eligible for the club championship)? We have always had a similar requirement for our Seniors Club Championship Trophy comp.
It was there to stop the 'trophy raiders' from entering as the only Seniors comp they ever played in.
Pre WHS the requirement was to have played in a minimum of 3 seniors comps in the same calendar year as the comp.
I have no idea but at my club you have to have a certain number of competition cards in the system to be able to win prizes. I assume a 'qualifying' card is one from a competition? What is a "qualifying" card?

My club is now saying you need to have 8 competition rounds played in the last 12 months in order to win a board comp or enter a matchplay knockout. It used to be 4 now they've raised it to 8.
When they announced the change I was on 5 in the last 12 months! There are probably competitions two or three weekends per month, but over the last year I was coincidentally only to able play Saturday when the comp was on Sunday, or vice versa, quite a lot of the time. I have added one more comp and should be entering another one this Sunday to bring me to 7. First board comp is not til mid-April so I should be ok to get another one in by then. That could be really hard for a weekend player where I play. Although we run a comp once a month on Saturdays. The ones from October to March will sometimes be cancelled or become non qualifiers due to the course conditions plus some of the comps are better ball.
Would be interesting to know why they changed this. Was it a popular choice amongst members, or a result of one or 2 whiny members unhappy a higher handicapper won that hasn't played muchWhen they announced the change I was on 5 in the last 12 months! No - it’s simply a round and a card that is acceptable for WHS purposes and meets any additional entry criteria that the club chooses to set - I used the word ‘qualifying’ to describe such rounds. We have an entry criteria for club champs of four of eight ‘qualifying’ cards required being competition cards at home club.I have no idea but at my club you have to have a certain number of competition cards in the system to be able to win prizes. I don't know, but if it was the latter, they probably wouldn't have admitted that on the email informing us about it.Would be interesting to know why they changed this.
