Losing weight/fitness thread

I done a solid 3 month worth of legs and back stretching routines early last year. i felt amazing then the second kid arrived and it went on the scrap heap, it's soul destroying how quickly it goes back to tightness and aching
Pretty much why I’ve got to do but for me it’s hamstrings, hips and shoulders. They’ve taken a battering with work over the years and I need to stem the tide!

Been doing 10-15 minutes stretching each morning for a couple of weeks and really feeling the benefits. Also just got a standing desk and building up from 10 minutes standing every hour. I can definitely feel the benefits, not as stiff in the evenings and feel like I can work harder in the gym after work. Also, less stiff after a round of golf.
Last night decided to have a change and did a kettlebell workout off the net - really feeling it now!

I really need to start doing this - I'm SO tight in my arms/shoulders since starting swimming.

3 sessions this week, Drill workout, Hills and Magic Mile, all went well despite the weather, extended all 3 sessions to over 5 mile each time.

Today did the Mile in 7:45, not too bad as it was along the Seafront and I was getting hit with an onshore wind which I’m not too sure if it helped or hindered.

As it was a dry day I tried the primark stuff.
@Paperboy shorts were excellent, phone pocket is more on the front of the thigh rather than the side, but it was held firmly and had no issues, zip pocket on rear big enough for a few gels or keys etc and 2 side pockets.
I bought size L shorts, which the lady said was a 36, 38 waist. 2 colours, black or camoflauge, unfortunately they didn’t have black in L so went for these, but for a tenner I’d definitely recommend them and I plan to go back for a 2nd pair.

Jacket was great as well, bought size XL, 2 big pockets on front, hoid with drawstring and a drawstring in the hem, all easy adjustable. As I said it was very windy 16mph gusting to high 20’s and it certainly did its job, all I had on up top was a zerofit running top and the jacket and was very comfortable.

1lb off this week, down to my lowest since last July, haven't been lower than this in probably 30 years, since I was at school.

But, it's my birthday on Sunday and I've got some good meals booked in, because life's boring otherwise. As Graham Taylor said, now this is a test.

@PaulMdj not quite the same, but my wife bought some of the Primark activewear range and I was impressed with the quality of them. Look good for the price!

I'm a fan of the decathlon stuff as it's usually a good fit and good VFM.
I’d just never thought of Primark doing this stuff, in all honesty I never even knew they had a mens department as this week was the first time I’d ever been in one. 😂😂

One of my bosses son’s is a good cyclist, just signed a pro contract and competing in the national track championships. In the individual pursuit he did the 4km in less than 4:30 so I thought I would see how long it would take me in the gym. Let’s just say that just over 10 minutes isn’t going to get me to the next nationals 😂

8 mile today, again with the weighted vest, the novelty of last week quickly wore off and I felt it from the 2nd mile😂

Good run though, lovely morning along the coast and 8 mile done in just under 1hr 17 min, Avg pace 9:37.

Slight weight loss this week, just over a 1lb, maybe helped by cutting out the snacking for Lent.😇

4 miles in 36 minutes this morning, felt every step, legs like lead balloons, just a horrible run.
Just under 25 miles for the week though, so happy with that.

Full body strength session both Saturday and Sunday, finishing off with the mobility work. Due to work since Christmas I’ve had a serious regression in strength but my endurance is superb. The joys of literally doing nothing but yomping with weight and eating crap field rations has led to be at a 20 year low of weighing it at 70kg 😳

Also starting to feel the twinge in the right shoulder again, which is not good. So physio trip tomorrow to get it looked at in the hope it’s not a relapse and continue with the mobility stuff and the shift up in training now I’ve had my deload intro week.

70kg, can’t be a bit of fat on you at that weight 🤣🤣

Im really struggling when i comes to losing weight. Im doing two bike rides at the weekend one about 15 miles all climbing at a fast pace, a 35 steady again with a fair bit of climbing. i also try and get a long ride on Tuesday or Wednesday when im part time. get a couple of evening rides low intensity. im eating less, drinking less. cut out a lot of carbs, but not lost any weight, in fact ive put some on

And yet the Dr at my annual MOT still tells
Me I’m over weight 🤣

I run low body fat anyway but since going away for work in November I’m down 8kg whilst eating like a horse and with Christmas indulgence. It’s all due to the type of food, work and environment I’ve been working in. Happens everytime I work out there and to everyone that goes.

Plan now is to add that 8kg back on slow and steady whilst keeping that fat off. All months Dr can then tell me I’m clinically obese 🙄

Long run yesterday, 14 miles. Saturday came down with a vicious case of man flu.

So 2.5 miles at Convo pace, into 3.5 miles at MP (8:35) back into 2.5 miles at convo pace. Then into a second MP section for 3 miles going into a final 2.5 mile at convo pace.
Hit both MP segments although the second one was proper hard work. For HM distance hit my third fastest time of 1hr 56min which considering how rough I felt I was pretty happy with.

Just need to shift this cold as soon as possible so it doesn't affect my training plan.

No training today, shoulder issues returned with vengeance. Saw one Dr today he has concerns but wants a 2nd opinion , so back again tomorrow for a more in depth (no doubt more painful) look at it!

Pain is travelling up my neck now and I’ve done nothing different to normal and if anything been lifting lighter. Fingers crossed it’s a positive outcome and won’t affect the golf!

Fingers crossed for nothing serious. I know when I did my Achilles it was awful last year. I put on loads of weight as didn't see the point in eating healthy if I couldn't run etc
Not that I think that's an issue for you.
