LIV Golf

I went today, pretty good setup apart from what seemed one very long road in but not much they can do about that. Watching the golf is great and you can get up close as crowds aren’t huge. Went to the first for the shotgun start and had to endure an American fella trying to ‘whip up the crowd’ and shout down a microphone then do a countdown to the start. Other than that I enjoyed it. Music playing on every hole but people being told to be quiet is odd. Party hole was a bit mad. Rammed with corporate stuff / people. Weather amazing and course very nice

Crowds were not huge unless you were trying to watch the Bryson/ Hatton group. That was like being at a Ryder cup!

We went yesterday. Organisation was much better than last year especially moving the main park and ride further away from the course.

Crowds definitely increased on last year but as previous posters have said aren't huge.

Felt the added seats at 17 were a bit pointless as you couldn't see much from them and as a result they were mainly empty. Par 3 14th "party hole" was very busy and rowdy. Not for me personally. Some very good viewing areas elsewhere on the course though even if the sun has left its mark on me as a result 🦞

I'll echo the bemusement at being asked to keep quiet despite music playing.

Viewing on the app has now gone behind a paywall in the Uk, was going to happen at some point - I flicked over to ITV X to watch the rest of the play yesterday and as I'll be doing some tent erecting in Wales later this afternoon I doubt I'll see much so again, happy to watch on ITV X with the commercials.

£30 for the year seems like pretty decent value to me.

It’s been behind a pay wall here in Spain for a while. As much as I’d like to see it I’m not paying a subscription when I can watch golf on sky

It was always going to be monetised at some point

It certainly wasn't a great look at the time, and not handled well in the comms.

Would have been worse if they'd stunk the place out, but actually with a couple of events left -
Bubba - 13th in standings, with a T14 at the Masters
Grace - 36th in standings (not great but looking 'safe'), and a T4 in a DPWT event

Whilst there is a little bit of time left, as of now the interesting ones look to be -
Poulter - not sure if he has it left to turn things around, but tended to assume he was a driving force behind the commercial part
Pereira - odd loss of form. The team appear close knit & likely won't want you lose him.

But if rules is rules, and they are applied this time...
Might depend on how the owgr discussions are going 🤣

What happens with the “relegation” and promotion events etc will be a key part of getting ranking points

They have the tournament but not sure if there are any plans to use the Asian International OOM to give a “card” to the winner - that gives a pathway

This has been the case for the past 3 years (and has been discussed on here many times).
Scott Vincent, Andy Ogletree, Joaquín Niemann have been the 3 OoM winners, and the highest finishing non-LIV player last year ended up being signed by Bubba Watson's Range Goats.

I went yesterday. Most of the crowd seemed to be following the Bryson, Rahm, Smith group and as a consequence, the rest of the course seemed really quiet, which I didn’t mind at all (and still managed to catch that group a few times).

Not really got into LIV, I went as I got free tickets. A few thoughts though. The teams element could work well if they work on it. I don’t think they’ve got the balance right, either in the number of teams or the players that make up some of them. Part of that is I don’t think they’ve got the roster to have the number they do. Condense it and make it more even.

It’d work better for the merchandise as well, certain teams seemed to be flying out due to the players they have, others weren’t even touched for obvious reasons.

In terms of the format, I’m just not a fan of the shotgun start and don’t think I will be but in terms of attending, to get the most of it, I think you probably have to go to two days - one day more focussed on the course and the next more focused on the players.

I enjoyed it but it felt more like an exhibition than a tournament tbh, although I’m glad Bubba went on a run to make the top interesting for a while. Was good to see a few of the players regardless.

8 events now confirmed for 2026 - only one of them being US based as it stands. Looks like the proposed schedule that was leaked a few weeks back is stacking up to be pretty accurate. Dates in bold from the leaked schedule are now confirmed.

Season kicks off under the lights in Riyadh.

Feb 05-07 Riyadh
Feb 13-15 Adelaide

Mar 6-8 Hong Kong
Mar 13-15 Sentosa
Mar 20-22 South Africa
Apr 17-19 Mexico
May 08-10 Virginia (Trump National)

May 29-31 South Korea
Jun 05-07 Valderrama
Jul 24-26 JCB

Aug 7-9 Chicago
Aug 21-23 Indianapolis
Aug 28-30 Michigan

Really good thread here on X on the guys facing relegation this weekend at Indianapolis.

Personally, I only see Ogletree and Pereira as the players capable of getting themselves out of the drop zone. The others are toast - just not shown enough all year to suggest they have a good weekend in them.

Points awarded to 24th place only on LIV - and cracking into that top 24 isn't easy when you're down the bottom end of the league standings.
