LIV Golf

I think a link between the DP World tour and LIV could be great for both.
The European tour has had its problems financially over recent years and LIV has attracted criticism for not having a support tour that allows players to gain promotion.
I could see a partnership that would be very beneficial for both

Saudi Golf had their initial link with the ET when they had an event over a few years there which was part of the Middle East swing and was attracting decent players who were already in the Middle East

“IF” PIF then had looked into some sort of major partnership with ET and the other tours like - Asia , Sunshine , Aus etc they could have created a really strong global tour and attracted the best Europeans back and also the best of the Rest of the World players and created a “Global Tour” and built on that

We could have seen two big tours and players able to play in big events on both across the world

It’s a shame Greg Norman got to PIF

I still think that an arrangement could be made that would suit both tours now, there may be a bitter taste from years gone but with no Greg Norman now I would not be surprised to see something happen.
We may not like it but we all know money talks

Think whatever happens now will make the ET the poor cousin for any tour

The partnership with PGAT helps boost the Scottish open a little and bring in money but outside Horschel none of the players on PGAT play any events

Money does talk and suspect if PIF wanted to do something they would need to pay out the PGAT first

I just hope we don’t see the LIV team stuff etc filter into the ET

The European tour now is regrettably not much more than a feeder tour, as soon as anyone shows a bit of form they are off to the PGA (normally).
It would be great to see a really strong European tour and maybe an alliance with Liv may help create that.

(I don’t care enough to have full confidence in the veracity of this, but I *think* it’s true…)

Didn’t Keith Pelley - decide against any involvement with LIV?

Not sure and whilst I think there would benefit for the ET to have some deal with PIF directly - not sure there should be any direct deal with LIV itself

There was something about a phone call but not sure if that was with PGAT

Think the ET created the alliance with PGAT as early as 2020 so don’t think they could have done anything anyway

The majority of Americans are never going to play globally, they are happy playing in the USA all the time, even with Scottie Scheffler winning the Open, he couldn’t get home quick enough.
For me, it would be good to see the DPWT and PIF come together in some capacity.

They don’t need to play globally. They have every type of course you could want to play without leaving their country.

I’d guess the majority of UK golfers never leave these islands to play globally either. And if the do it’s to bland resorts in Turkey or the Costa del Sol. Where most courses are pretty much the same and look a lot like a bog standard US course.
