LIV Golf

Very good golfer but I don’t think Koepka has any sort of real popularity - nor really charismatic, interesting, humble, funny, and definitely not as ‘cool’ as he thinks he is

One I wouldn't be too disappointed to see leaving LIV and going back to the PGAT - infact it would be interesting to see how the PGAT would accommodate him back - would they suspend him for a year or would they ignore their own sanctions.

LIV are getting their US market figured out.
Virginia was a great event, and Dallas took it up another notch - great viewing last night with a logjam leaderboard where 1st play was on the table for multiple players - Reed coming out on top of the 4 way play off in the end.
Sergio qualified for The Open as well

Tough course, great finish👍
Really enjoyed it this week

How does 50k compare to other golf events ?

The event at Woburn years back I believe was around 50k

Wentworth is around 100k

Google suggests that the average attendance for a PGA event is between 100-200k with events like WM getting 600k

The LIV event in Aus had 100k

So going by pure numbers it’s miles away

But the weekend shows the whole disconnect with tour golf

Look at how much discussion about any of the 5 events going on - most of it was about Koepka smashing a tee marker into the crowd ( even the outrage on the is smaller 😁 )

Nobody talks about golf on here Phil because there are a few people a little too eager to turn it into a ‘my dads bigger than your dad’ contest.

There’s plenty of decent discussion on other social platforms for those of us that want it. (y)

There is plenty of discussion on golf when the big events come around - Majors , Players , Ryder Cup , PGA at Wentworth and prob the Scottish next week

But dilution of tour events is always going to have a knock on affect

Just had the email through for the ballot for the Open at Birkdale next year. It’s £60 for the final practice day, £120 for the Friday and £140 for the Sunday. A ticket for LIV on Friday at JCB was about £30. Now I know the scale of the two events isn’t really comparable but those wanting to watch live golf and not bothered about the event, LIV is a no brainier over the Open

It’s a good day out & a bargain at that price.

Prices for the Scottish Open are very good

PGA at Wentworth is around the same price as the LIV event

That’s like comparing watching the World Cup final to Halifax Town.

One is going to be very much more expensive than the other.
