Haven’t gone into all the detail but feels like each side wrote down a load if things they'd like to happen. Then they each said no to the others asks, and the only thing left was to stop paying the lawers.
Those (not directly involved), with strong (blinkered?) views from either side seem to be latching onto the soundbites that suit.
I'm trying hard to ignore most of it until there is a statement from the PIF head geezer.
Seems several on here, and in media generally, are still happy to state their opinions as 'future facts' though.
Quite amusing really.

May be wrong, but I don’t recall Scheffler being too vocal when several others were 'running their mouth'. Struck me as someone happy to not be hugely in the limelight and let his golf do the talking. Intriguing that he is speaking out now...

How Jay Monahan is still in a job is absolutely astounding, he's basically fed the shareholders (players) lies from the start, at a minimum gross misconduct.
You do wonder about his mindset and what he thought was going to happen.
What did he promise Rory, since he ended up been the spokesperson for the players which in my opinion had a detrimental effect on his golf game.
Keith Pelley the same by the way.

The PGAT players are a lot more tetchy about the whole thing but that's probably because their leadership has let them down with their mishandling from the start and thrown a lot of them under the bus with their hypocritical u turn.

The Liv players seem totally at ease with what they are getting told so i suppose it remains to be seen if their leadership are going to let them down in the merger agreement.

The senate hearings showed that the PGAT really need an agreement.

The 5 players on the board representing the players were not even consulted before the statement came out, shocking.

If Yasir Al Rumayyan is going to fight for Liv's future in the negotiations (His Baby as he calls it) im really struggling to see how a merger agreement is going to be achieved.

Maybe a similar way to the WGC? Select players farmed off for team golf 8-10 weeks of the year? PGA could lose sponsors like AT&T, which could make room, 'elevated events' change back to 'Events'. Other events that dont want to become 'alternate field' need to bid for the weekends away from LIV and majors, top players play 18 - 20 events a year for eye watering money? I could see it working to a point.

Consumer buy in could take time...

I dunno, at a time when people on both sides are trying to find a truce and common ground in merger talks is this wise ?

He's telling the truth...he doesn't want to play LIV
Why should he sit by and be "sold" to them and have to play in a format that he doesn't want to play in.?
Why do they think they can just say " Oh yeah, you can have Rory and Tiger as Captains and they'll play 10 events" when, quite clearly neither have any interest in doing so..?
It's about time these sort of questions just got put to one side until some real facts emerge...
The players still know jack about it...stop asking them as if they're on the inside and know all the details.

The merger announcement was rushed and everyone wondered why.

Documents show that the PIF were about to commit another 5 Billion dollars to Liv.
That must be what the email to Jimmy Dunne was about when it said they were about to DOUBLE DOWN.

This was also reported by No Laying Up on the Rick Eisen Show.

5 BILLION DOLLARS 😲

Does anyone actually know if he said that though? Seems to be a statement that has travelled very far in pro-LIV media. All I've seen was a LIV player has said to a journalist that he said it. But said LIV player didnt want to go on the record that it was him... Whereas all LIV players who are on record answering similar questions have gone 'No idea whats happening'

It's probably a safe enough / bit of a nonsense comment as LIV won't be the only available option; and it's quite likely the rebranding of the merger will remove the LIV name but retain certain elements (namely the team aspect) so he can be right and wrong. It doesn't really need a deep dive, but it should be noted LIV didn't betray him or use him, he namechecks LIV as opposed to Saudi so I assume he's okay with the Saudi $ being invested into / owning golf.... so anti-LIV but not anti-PIF? Plus, I'm sure he feels slightly threatened that his own 'team' thing might be under threat given the potential future commitments and paydays available to the top players.

His golf is in good shape, he remains the current star attraction in the world, so he doesn't really need to put his head above the parapet - but, actually, it's probably good that he does.... it does present an opposing view and generates discussion, particularly when other 'top' PGAT stars sidestep questions / giving opinions.
