Has anyone heard anything about world ranking points yet ?

Also, is Norman still involved or have the Saudi's sidelined him ? Can't see much from him on the subject.

The top players could break away, create their own league, Im sure when Rory gets finished pulling the knifes out of his back, he could phone tiger, hideki, JT, speith etc and just start collecting sponsors.... im sure theyd get there money to come back....

Reports saying he had no idea, which makes sense as LIV (as we know/knew it) is pretty dead now. Facets of it may exist in the new world order.

the irony of there being a world golf tour and Norman has no part of it

Just out of curiosity - what do you think will happen to LIV, and the players?

well, judging by what has been released, as the end of the year the players can re-apply for their tour card. some are life members etc so for these it should be easy. i guess they may be asked to pay some kind of fine to keep they loyal PGA players happy.

i imagine the liv team format will be incorporated in some way. Whether this is for the Fall series, or throughout the season who knows.

ultimately, noone knows what going to happen, which is why PGA and the PIF have got a few weeks (which doesn’t seem enough) to try and sort things out. hasnt the deal still got to be approved by various jurisdictions too…so it could fall flat, but i very much doubt that will happen.

One interview with Parsons I read he had been quite clever really. He framed it as a matter of patriotism. MBS had a US journalist hacked to pieces, so how can you support a league backed by him.
Patriotism is a big issue in the good O'l US of A, so makes his company look good, and LIV look bad.
That’s pretty much what he alludes to - war veteran and doesn’t want to be associated with Saudi
Curious to see where PXG go now.
Stop being involved entirely, or pull a u-turn 🤔

My guess... the agreement is that the LIV brand is no more, but I suspect that some/all parts of it, such as the team aspect (likely with alternative brand sponsorship), and some of the events round the world will carry on under the PGA name. Maybe they'll keep the shotgun starts etc but limit ranking points etc and it will be a 20/20 version of golf that players will be invited to on a ranking basis.

It would appear Norman was just cog in the wheel of the Saudi Government and has been duly discarded now he's served his purpose.

Please not the shotgun starts. Hate them.

I wonder what you think that tweet means?

I'll go out on a limb here. With Norman's ego, he was surely always going to put out a statement that made it look like he has another "win"

I can't imagine he'd tweet "I'm so sad I've been discarded and no longer a key figure. All my hard work, and the end result is the PGAT that I hate survives with a huge investment, and LIV golf and myself pretty much terminated" :)

I think it means 'job done'...

Whether he retains or gets another job, with the Saudi's remains to be seen.

Alan Shipnuck wrote the Mickleson book and the only book on the Liv golf story due out later this year.
No one is better connected to make sense of how the new golf world is going to look.

His podcast Episode Liv And Let Thrive is well worth a watch

What was the job?

To take golf back to the global market - which is what will now happen.
Anybody thinking (still), that the PGAT will carry on and all the LIV players will go back, essentially going back to how it was are misguided. The Saudis want an international market to showcase their country as a tourist destination, and that means they'll be taking their 'assets' all over the world to grow their brand.
