It clearly couldnt survive. People laughed when I said LIV had to fold their tent. The PGAT holding on to the crown jewels, and LIV just not prising enough talent away from them to be a credible top tour was the turning point. PGAT held all the card and LIV selling out to the them probably as good a cut and run as they could get. Jay in charge. Money injection for everyone. And PGAT now fully in control of the European Tour as well.
Its a big big win for them.
And great for golf.

I read it that PIF are in charge really. Jays only there till he’s voted out - and that might not be long!

Who had ever heard of Jay anyway.
Officials can go back to the obscurity from which they came.
Golfers, all the top ones together again. Happy days are here again for golf fans. No more defections. No more splits. One tour for the best is all we ever wanted. After a years turbulence, we are back to that.

The comments from a few LIV guys are interesting - suggests they knew this was coming. You can include Greg Normans son in that as well - be interesting to see what announcement comes from LIV officially, but as this stage, it's clear that golf will be re-modeled to be truly global - as it should be..

So is all of that just a take or are you actually in the know?

A lot of it is in the statement from Monahan to the players - the rest is what i believe is happening from my take on what he has said
I’ve only skimmed through the announcement and socials.

But, it seems the PGAT have done a deal with PIF that will potentially chop the legs out from under LiV. I’m not sure why the LiV bots are celebrating so much.

I think ultimately that is what has happened - PGAT prob reached out to PIF looking to make a deal

I would think they along with everyone else didn’t have a clue it was happening because it’s being done with PIF not LIV directly. The silence from Greg Norman is very telling

Don’t expect any “remodel” beyond PIF money going into PGAT and ET from next season.

Phil, you don't know anything about what the future of the game will be like, and you've proven it throughout the inception of this thread.
Why don't you just hold your tongue until it all becomes clearer?

It’s pretty clear from that statement that once this season is done - LIV in its current format is done , all the stuff you went on about - franchises , team owners etc will be gone - happy for you to remember this and come back to it

The players will re apply to rejoin their previous tour , some will need to go to the challenge or clutch pro or korn ferry tour and some maybe into the champions tour.

As it states - PIF are putting the money into the PGAT , the PGAT will rule the roost with their financial backing from PIF

It’s a win for the PGAT , a win for PIF , big loss for LIV and a lot of the players will be very unhappy right now.

My reading is that they are coming together to create a new commercial entity that will presumably run its own series of co-sanctioned events. The PGA tour will continue separately, the DP world tour will continue separately but there will be a new series of events run by this entity (basically LIV but with all the best players?). PIF are funding it, PGA tour earn a slice of the commercial pie by bringing their brand to it.

Maybe I’m way off, but that’s my take.

Yeah and the only way I can see the players being happy is if they all got a bump or pay off that equates to DJ

It's a few hours since the announcement mate, far too early to be calling what will happen.

I think that would mean a lot of golf comps being squeezed in and comps coming up against each other - I think the events you talk about could be some sort of end of season events - an enhanced playoffs on the PGAT and ET but also maybe some more co sanctioned events in Australia and Asia with Asian Tour etc - in the same way of the Scottish Open.

I think it’s pretty obvious what’s happening. See my above post.

LIV continues (but rebranded and maybe some changes to format) with pga tour and dp world tour players available to compete.

PIF fund it, pga tour and dp world tour benefit from a share of the commercial revenue (and take control).

Unless it isn’t obvious and im completely wrong!
