The team element with ALL the best golfers in the world could be great if they do it right..

Really interested to see how they are going to knit it all together.

Political stuff aside

I just can't see team golf ever working if it's tied into individual events like LIV has been. you'd need to block out a window like the IPL and somehow get people to care about the franchises.

This is one hell of a U Turn by the way.

"You dont have to apolagise to play on the PGA Tour"

Went down the moral argument all the way about the source of the money and now appoints PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan to the PGA Tour policy board who now has equity and the PIF now is a major part of funding the PGA Tour.

You couldnt make this up.

No one and I mean no one saw this coming..

Chamblee and Lynch and anyone who drew that line in the sand have no where to go....

I think we will just get more elevated events - but some that incorporate a team aspect in some way. And they have to keep hold of some events in different countries etc. Probably more in the middle east!

Its going to be really interesting to see how it pans out!

I actually think there will be less elevated events - you can have too much of a good thing and from comments made by some, and the PGA statement issued to Players today regarding developing the team element, it looks like the Majors are protected but everything else is up for grabs. Good day to be in the top 70 odd players I think.... not so much otherwise.

Majors will be defacto run by PIF eventually they'll end up putting the money up for the purse to ensure they remain relevant.

Players went to LIV for money - indisputable. Despite protestations to the contrary, anti-LIV sentiment by Monahan and others, the opposition to LIV was about money and never morals.

The dispute was settled by money. Monahan, as per his statement, now sits along side Yasir Al-Rumayyan. Unbelievable.

What about the partnership between PGAT and European Tour. Is that still all good? Especially now European Tour confirmed it had banned players from Ryder Cup and fined players due to LIV, and now their buddies at the PGAT are in bed with LIV.

Let me go and get a coffee. Enjoying this. We could double the posts on this thread by the end of the day.

So reading it seems

2023 carries on as it is

Once 2023 season is finished the players apply to rejoin the PGAT or DP Tour

No mention of Greg Norman - has he gone ?

No mention of LIV events after ?

So have PIF said - LIV isn’t working , let’s use those billions and buy a stake in the PGAT instead.

I actually feel sorry for Rory. Splashed out as the face of the PGA Tour against the evil entity trying to take over golf. Then it looks like they've ribbed him from behind.

How much did it ruin his year last year..constantly asked about Liv. Constantly getting annoyed by the changes

Apparently Greg was told just before the TV interview......suspect he's out as it seems he had no involvement in any talks

And you can understand where he's coming from but it's a bit of self-interest. Takes more than one guy wanting him on the team. If a significant number of them came out and backed Rahm's take that'd be a different story but I just can't see that happening.
Rahm and Garcia could pair up together, wouldn't be at all surprised if they picked up a few points together then every man for himself in the singles. I doubt that 1 unpopular guy would ruin the team room, look at how popular Reed is and the yanks still perform with him in the team. They won it 2 out of the 3 times he was selected.

This is opening pandoras box big time for other sports

Too late I think, look how football has gone since the influx of money from abroad. Premier league has been ruined, Newcastle and City will be battling it out for years. We get big boxing fights in the middle east which would've sold out stadiums in the UK. Nobody will ever say no, they've all got a price which has been proven today, no matter how much they protested.
